Jackson Mthembu a drunkard - EFF

2012-09-27 19:02

Johannesburg - ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu was "intoxicated-inspired" when he criticised expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said on Thursday.

"The drunkard went to the extent of calling president Julius Malema a 'menace and a monster' in a very childish and intoxicated-inspired fashion," the EFF said in a statement.

Mthembu had criticised Malema in an interview with eNCA on Wednesday.

"Can you imagine Julius Malema becoming president of the country? Oh, dear God, may that day never dawn in our lifetime, or that of our children," Mthembu reportedly said.

The EFF accused Mthembu of criticising Malema to hide a conspiracy against the expelled youth leader, led by President Jacob Zuma.

"The drunkard was weakly trying to deny the reality that Mr Jacob Zuma is behind attempts of the state to arrest and detain president Julius Malema as a way of suppressing political dissent," the organisation said.

Mthembu was arrested for drunken driving in Cape Town in 2010. He admitted guilt in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court where he was issued a R12 000 fine.

The fighters said it had it "on good authority" that the government was working to prevent Malema from interacting with workers and soldiers.

Bad person

They also claimed the recent deployment of the military to Marikana was a direct response to the "Malema threat".

The EFF said Mthembu had also called Malema a "monster and menace".

"If there are people who are monsters and menaces in South Africa it is those who abuse alcohol and drugs, and Jackson Mthembu is not only one of them, but produces more from his home and cannot even manage to keep them there," it said.

Mthembu had also reportedly said Malema should never have been an ANC member because he was a bad person.

Malema should stop lobbying opinion on whether President Jacob Zuma should be nominated as ANC leader, Mthembu said.

"He's not even a member of the ANC. He can't nominate anybody. People join the ANC voluntarily, but then they're required to maintain certain values, and Julius couldn't do it."

Mthembu also warned any ANC leaders who might be contemplating support of Malema, who faces charges of money laundering.

"He's too factious... he thinks he's everything. He might support a leader now, but he'll do a complete about-face within three years," he said.

The media should stop trying to legitimise faceless organizations like the FYL, noe EFF and then what? These are persona non-grata in our political vocabulary. Don't try to glorify them by giving them these fancy names. S*-t is what it is by any other name.

Who the hell is EFF? When did they get an acronym. After FYL and EFF, we should have NEBD (No-Education But Demands) and LCDNW (Limpopo Can Do No Wrong), whilst they support the NWEE (Nationalisation Without Economic Evidence) group, who are aligned to the DLA (Demagogues Leaders Anonymous) group, funded by the TAP (Tenderpreneurs Alliance of Polokwane).

Methinks Malema is also always high on something. And yes, government has to stop him from interacting with soldiers. You can't try to score cheap political points with the country's last line of defense. We don't want a civil war.

News24 please give us news worthy news. we are being tortured day and night with very childish fights between and amongst former friends that have become corrupt. We need stories that build the country and sell the uniqueness of our country to the rest of the world.

  • zamumzi.njamela - 2012-09-27 20:44

Our country lacks leaders of Baba Mandelas calibre, discipline, selflessness and dedication to the cause of the people,as long as those values do not exist in their hearts and minds of our leadears south africa is not gona serve the poor voters.

  • Michael - 2012-09-27 20:46

Julius was expelled from ANC without any fear, he continued to address gatherings insulting Zuma everywhere in the country, accross all provinces in SA, he was allowed to say all he wanted to say without any intimidation, thereis nothing Malema wanted to say about Zuma that he didnt say, why would Zuma want to arrest him now, I think fact is Malema allegerdly bebefited from fraudelent tenders from Limpopo, that must be tested in courts and if Malema is innocent, then thats also fine.

      krish.reddy.104 - 2012-09-27 21:55

My friend wait for it. Worst to follow. When all this is over and Zuma wins a second term He will sue Malema for all his worth for defamation of character. That is why the silence.

      paseka.khetsi - 2012-09-28 17:34

@Krish.\r\nWhy must he wait for 2nd term, what if he is defeated, will he still sue,Zapiro still waiting for his day in court.

Fortunately we all know that Julius Malema and cohorts are teetotalers. They just pretend they like the more expensive stuff usually sold only in liquor outlets.

  • Benigna Skosana - 2012-09-27 21:26

i dont wish to be alive wen/if Julius malema becomes a president, that guy is an embarrassment to the society, stupid people like him need not to be entertained

  • thulanit3 - 2012-09-27 21:28

Malema is a monster and menace

  • cfakazi - 2012-09-27 21:47

I get the best comedy from listening to Malema and his crew(EFF). They explicitly tell it like it is. Jackson and his nyaupe addict son. JZ also is a victim of these boys. But the lesson is the type off political leadership we have in this country.

  • hermann.hanekom - 2012-09-27 22:01

  • Duncan Phopi - 2013-06-13 18:29

the truth so be told u insult malema, wen he defend his ideas u feel threaten and attempt to suppress him. leave malema alone to empower the most vunerable and marginalised people( blacks, whites, old, young and youth).

  • Luka Mahlangu - 2014-11-07 07:51

In 2010 when Mr.Mthembu was arrested, the road traffic officer who arrested him made statement and said, "in my 20 years of being the traffic officer, it is the first time I arrest a motorist for drunken driving on a Thursday morning at quarter to eight." Without being bias, this was a very creative statement. From personal level, I cant understand how a person gets it right to be drunk on a Thursday morning. Usually people get drunk on Fridays afternoon until Monday morning.
