Limpopo premier must go - SACP

2012-08-10 19:02

Johannesburg - Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale has failed the poor and the working class and must be fired, the SA Communist Party in the province said on Friday.

"The immediate answer will be the removal of premier Cassel Mathale and his entire executive council, because all the mess from education, to health and to treasury occurred with their complicity," said provincial secretary Gilbert Kganyago.

African National Congress provincial spokesperson Makonde Mathivha rubbished the SACP's call.

"The SACP doesn't have any right to say that the [Limpopo] premier of the ANC must resign."

‘Mathale a national embarrassment’

The SACP's provincial executive committee held a two-day meeting in Polokwane at the weekend.
It discussed issues, such as the late or non-delivery of textbooks to Limpopo schools.

Kganyago said: "Cassel Mathale has become a national embarrassment to the tripartite alliance."
He said there was no government at provincial level.

"We have seen the collapse of basic services in education, which is epitomised by the textbook crisis."

Kganyago said there was no visionary leadership on Mathale's part, because he should have planned ahead to make sure it (the mess) did not happen.

"The health system is also in dire straits."

‘SACP not genuine’

He said there was no food or medicine for patients.

"Those things are very serious. A delay to remove Mathale is actually worsening and deepening the crisis that our ordinary people are faced with, and it's high time that he must be fired."

Mathivha said these problems were passed down from previous administrations.

"Any person who says that Mathale must resign, those people are not genuine."

He said the party was not surprised, as these calls were made by people who "failed to win at the ANC provincial conference in December".

"We expect these things to happen leading up to Mangaung."

I never thought I'd live to see the day when I actually agree with the SACP! He should not only go, he should never have been appointed in the first place!

      squeegee.pilot - 2012-08-10 19:30

He should go - all the way to jail.

      nicholas.graan - 2012-08-10 20:15

Communism makes people poor, and should also go.

      phuti.hlabane - 2012-08-10 20:45

      komorison - 2012-08-10 21:07

And he and his cronies must do jail time!

  • Erna - 2012-08-10 19:13

To anc spokesperson - the SACP didn't say he must resign, he must be FIRED! And the SACP can say it and I am sure millions would agree.

      Desilusionada - 2012-08-10 20:02

@Erna African National Congress provincial spokesperson Makonde Mathivha rubbished the SACP's call. "The SACP doesn't have any right to say that the [Limpopo] premier of the ANC must resign." You are right, this so called spokesperson should, before he speaks, read the Constitution. The bit about freedom of speech. The SACP may say what they want to. Saying an incompetent must be fired does not constitute hate speech/slander/etc. in anyone's book. They are so used to sprout BS with impunity that they react like this when someone/anyone stands up to them.

  • michael.bushes - 2012-08-10 19:17

  • musawenkosi.mvubu - 2012-08-10 19:33

My question to you SACP is that Is there anybody in your space of living and in your vocabulary who consitutes to be fired if so what criteria do you use? Where does Blade fits here?

  • pronape - 2012-08-10 19:41

This man must resign from our province,he s rily discrase from the fatcats

  • zolisa.dlokovu - 2012-08-10 19:41

if Pres Jacob Zuma is firing him ,this will be seen by many as an attempt to remove his opponents from government . Jacob Zuma is in a difficult position now because even firing him can win him some votes ,people will see him as some1 who believes in good governance.

  • jackie.stone.501 - 2012-08-10 19:42

Don't have a problem with their call but I suspect everyone is trying to clear every stumbling block for Zuma, why are they not calling for the removal of comrade Angie motshekga, thus because they know it would ruin the relationship between Zuma and ANCWL

  • ditoare.gypsy - 2012-08-10 19:43

What do you expect when you kick-out the main PREMIER of Limpopo Dr J Malema. Everything will be standing still. Caster Semenya will be expelled from Limpopo once she won that Gold medal. Limpopo is oparating negetively lately

      mark.haupt.31 - 2012-08-10 20:03

      What are you smoking boet?

Seriously what can drive you to dump books on the road after you have been hired to transport them from point A to point B, you mean the truck didn't have the petrol to get to point B?

  • themba.thwala.98 - 2012-08-10 19:54

This thief must not just be fired, whatever he owns must be confiscated as proceeds of crime. He must then swap his suits for orange overalls in jail where thieves belong

      komorison - 2012-08-10 21:13

      Ill gotten gains.

  • Makgobe Khala Morwamotshe - 2012-08-10 19:56

  • BulletProof. - 2012-08-10 20:00

I do agree that SACP has nothing to order anybody dismissal but on this issue they are right and the government itself should ad fire this incompetent long ago. Period

  • mark.haupt.31 - 2012-08-10 20:01

Um, he's also failed to do his job, or doesn't that count? You know you're a banana republic when the poor and the working class are decisive factors and not ability or competence.

      bongolethu.bacela - 2012-08-10 20:33

I just wish tht whites wud criticise constructively as tht option builds. The question we hv to ask ourselves is, why is SACP calling for the premier's head? Is it bcz he's Malema's friend, therefore, anti-Zuma? Wud ds story hv leaked if Mangaung wasn't around the corner? Also why has SACP kept mum on limpopo education saga? Why r dey nt callin for Angie's head? Does misuse of travel allowance warrant dismissal more than failure to deliver textbooks does?

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-08-11 11:54

Bongolethu, you want whites to criticise constructively and what do you do?. Maybe they are calling for his head because he isn't worthy of holding office?.

  • azande.futhi - 2012-08-10 20:02

If we were to be honest and righteous in our actions, Premier, Education MEC, Angie Motshega are supposed to be history now for the fall of the eduction right in front of their faces. But since this is a democratic country, we have to wait till JZ applies his mind to the texbook saga investigative report. I know he will take the next six months in applying his mind. Thanks to Polokwane 2007 for bringing such a fraud to lead us.

      khazamula.maluleke1 - 2012-08-10 20:18

I agree with you Azade its because of Mangaung, we are aware of the position of the SACP, they don't want 2 lose their positions as ministers. If they were fair they wuld have said something about Angie hey!

      khazamula.maluleke1 - 2012-08-10 20:43

I agree with you Azade its because of Mangaung, we are aware of the position of the SACP, they don't want 2 lose their positions as ministers. If they were fair they wuld have said something about Angie hey!

      Azande, I agree.

  • KCorsar - 2012-08-10 20:04

Fired and prosecuted. Human Rights abuse and infringing on the rights of citizens under the Constitution. Time to set a landmark precedent legally against corruption.

  • keith.ngobeni - 2012-08-10 20:05

This cassel mathale bastard should have not been made a premier of LIMPOPO in the first place, because he got his premier position through nepotism not by merit now ordinary people in LIMPOPO are paying a high price because of ANC corrupt ways of appointing its officials, CASSEL MATHALE and your ANC GO TO HELL..

  • ndyeboreginaldmazawule - 2012-08-10 20:07

The dumb ANCYL couldn't see it because their former leader is from Limpopo.

  • Gerald Jordaan - 2012-08-10 20:12

Agree!! And so must the ANC!! Useless bunch of good for nothings !!

  • jakes.cakedregs - 2012-08-10 20:13

He stuffed up not just education - And this is my keen observation: Corruption for Cassel was never a hassle since his morals were lost in translation.

  • shimeAschendorf - 2012-08-10 20:15

  • Hannes Truter - 2012-08-10 20:34

    The entitlement crowd.....

  • grant.olivier.92 - 2012-08-10 20:38

Sure, fire Mathale, but why stop there? Why not fire every Cosatu official in Limpopo who has ever encouraged a teacher or a health worker to go on strike?

  • phuti.hlabane - 2012-08-10 20:41

Who r ths wanking fools called SACP?they shud start by calling 4 the firing of blade the idiot just support Zuma cos they r both Zulus.who r this fools anyway?

Y vote for a rapist?BEE PhDs like tht of Nzimandes

  • Stewart Croucamp - 2012-08-10 20:59

As long as the ANC is in government we will end up like Zimbabwe

  • douglas.reid.921 - 2012-08-10 21:01

His travel claim fraud is criminal and he should be arrested and charged and jailed. Instead he will be redeployed to avoid embarrassment and nothing else. Criminal cadre comrades are obviously above the law. If this was china he would have been shot already.

  • Malose-Nyatlo - 2012-08-10 21:08

When I called a close relative who was admitted to a Limpopo hospital to say I was coming to visit, the first thing she said was: 'Please bring along food and medicine!' That sounded weird.\r\nIf all the riots in Cape Town are a measure of what people think about their incompetent leaders, then Mathale and his cohorts should have lost their jobs a long time ago.

  • ditoare.gypsy - 2012-08-10 21:18

If people are delaying to take out Zuma, Zuma must take out Mathale Quickly to secure his place in mangaung, not only basic education is falling apart in Limpopo actualy all departments are falling down in limpopo

  • mzukisijola.jose1 - 2012-08-10 21:48

The section 100 was implemented by national government in december last year, limpompo education is under government what mathale must do? Let zuma and angie fix the problem they think they are clever

      Johan De Beer - 2012-08-11 09:29

Why were all their departments thaken over by National in the first place?

  • TawwaTienie - 2012-08-10 22:46

HE is not the only one. Limpopo premier must go - SACP

  • bless.boswell - 2012-08-10 23:58

Very overdue. He must go. His continued stay in office is a blatant disregard by government of Mathale's disgraceful conduct. What he has done amounts to theft of public funds and the gross abuse of the people of Limpopo. Greedy, corrupt b.stard.

  • don.mug.3 - 2012-08-11 05:06

  • deejay.magolide - 2012-08-11 06:59

SACP must stop its comments in fact what are they saying about Zumaville, the corruption shown in mail and guardian

  • Johan De Beer - 2012-08-11 09:32

I would think that if a provincial department is taken over by National, then the MEC must go. If two departments get taken over by National, then the premier must go as well

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-08-11 11:50

Geez, typical communists. Wake up too late and then shout for things they know won't happen.

  • Billy - 2012-08-11 15:29
