Malema 'hasn't paid ANC membership fee'

2012-01-30 09:45

Johannesburg - Embattled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has not paid his ANC membership fee since 2009, according to a report on Monday.

Malema - who is facing a five-year suspension from the party for statements he made about its leadership - last paid his R12 annual membership fee in July 2009, The Times newspaper reported.

Failure to pay would mean that a member would be barred from party activities.

When approached for comment on Sunday, Malema said it was news to him that his membership had not been renewed.

Malema is currently appealing his suspension as the youth league president.

A youth league spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

  • Grimmister - 2012-01-30 09:51

Geez....R12 a year??...Sure you could afford that?...But then accounting wasnt really your strong point, was it?...This clown gets funnier and funnier with each passing day.

      Lyndatjie - 2012-01-30 10:11

Ahhh but remember Grimmister - his economics are completely screwed.... if you take from the FEW rich - you can feed the BILLION poor....

      lenandiv - 2012-01-30 10:14

Whahahahahahahaha... okay wait let me breath .. no Hahahahahahaha.. sorry cant stop laughing this is just TYPICAL!!!!! Come on JUJU dont be a bloody cheap agent.. pay yr R12.00.

      Paul - 2012-01-30 10:50

How can you be a member if you don't pay your fees? Technically JM is an independent candidate making him an infiltrator of the ANC. So the disciplinary actions are null and void as they apply to members. Therefore as a non member the time resources and money spent thus far on this action could be saved in one fowl sweep. NO MEMBERSHIP NO CHANCE OF RECOGNITION OF STATUS, POSITION, APPEAL, AND FALLS INTO THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOMAIN. SO ENJOY BEING A REGULAR CITIZEN

      Willie - 2012-01-30 11:04

      It is not news

      Alan - 2012-01-30 11:09

yaah well - I bet his membership at KFC is up to date.

      Andrew - 2012-01-30 11:17

He probably thought it was an honour for the ANC to have him as a member, the buffoon. albeit a dangerous one!

      Merven - 2012-01-30 14:28

R12? So that is how they got so many members!

      Ann - 2012-01-30 14:50

Nor was paying his strong point :)

      Robert - 2012-01-30 16:46

I'm hungry got no money, why must I pay, My Name is Julius, Do you know who I am ANC. If not you are Balddy agents sent by the brits - Hey Mogabe can I lend R 5.50 exclude SA VAT or 1 trillion Zim Dollar o wait 1.3 Trillion, Hey man you making this difficult for a ANCYL. What is this inflation stuff. Just give me the money. Eish how many wheel borrows, Hey Floyd lets orginise a march and tell people of this victory. We going to recycle that is what the whities wants to know. Eish with all these ald Zim dollars we can make a lot of fires to show the peopl we care and pay our membership fees.

      NrGx - 2012-01-30 16:53

@pdilapiso - we ARE ALL citizens of this country regardless of who and what colour the government is. How, or why, should I and others respect you when you have no inclination to earn that respect? It is clear that hold no respect for us, so WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO DEMAND respect? None are so blind than those who do not wish to see.

      Boer - 2012-01-30 17:47

      Warren - 2012-01-30 23:37

@ Alan: Whats the bet his membership at Nandos is also up to date?

      John - 2012-01-30 23:44

Malema, Jesus loves you, Malema, Your mother loves you, Malema, Your father loves, Repent, Manpara, repent, Repent, Ignorant, repent, Repent, Negligent, repent, Repent, Liar, repent, Repent, Thief, repent, Repent, Baby Killer, repent, Repent, Genocider, repent! Okai, stop the bus, how can you say all that? Lets have a look: Malema is Ignorant that the Failed Communist Countries like the USSR, China, Vietnam, Cuba, etc, employed Central Control Economies ( CCE ), with full and total nationalisation. Negligent - as the head of an organization, it is his duty to be fully informed of the economic history of total disasters of CCE. He does not know that Gorbachov announced reforms away from nationalization – in the early 1980’s! He is a Liar, because these are not his ideas, these ideas have been around for over 100 years. Thief, he has stolen the PEOPLES money – that is how bribery and corruption works. Baby Killer, as a member of the ANC – Abortion Murder Genocide, is guilty of the Genocide of 800 000 black babies in government hospitals! Genocider, as a member of the ANC – Abortion Murder Genocide, is guilty of the Genocide of 5 Million Aids sufferers which were refused medication. Repent, Manpara, Repent!

      NrGx - 2012-01-31 11:45

WTF! - this is not news! Malema not paying (God only knows how much) tax is far less important than paying his R12 A YEAR membership fee? And the idiotic anc regard this as worthy to "launch a probe" i bet.

      pdilapiso - 2012-01-31 16:17

Julius Malema was sent by God, that 1 is prudent!its funny how the same people that brought the bible to this continent doesn’t see the repeat of events narrated in the bible!@ john and the rest>> the irony is that On occasions people got offended at Jesus by His practice of 'telling it straight'. The account from John 10 tells of one such occasion where there were two attempted 'stoning' of Jesus. Verse 31 is suggestive of another occasion as you see today the media & majority of the white communities are busy stoning Malema!

      Merven - 2012-02-01 08:37

@Janine, comparing Malema to a rat is offensive, to the rat.

  • miyo27 - 2012-01-30 09:52

surprised? he probably hasn't declared all his income or paid the respective tax on it either. apart from his +- R25000 monthly salary

  • Erich - 2012-01-30 09:53

Give me the ANC's banking details. This man is too valuable for the opposition to have him expelled for this reason.

      Hahaha! Well said!

      Lorenzo - 2012-01-30 16:04

@Myancmyfuture - did you land on your head when you were shat out at birth? your anc is not your future. Do you want to know what your future is? wait - you actually have no future....continue being duped

      Newsreader - 2012-01-30 11:26

Myancmyfuture is one of those blind vegetables that dont percieve that the ANC will go down in history as the most vile and corrupt political party ever to have existed. He is blinded by his passion for having a majority ruled government even if they are a total failure. Its like having only one choice really, you either eat the stale bread, or you eat nothing.

      Myvision - 2012-01-30 11:29

@ Newsreader What does that have to do with Malema's alleged none payment of R 12?

      miyo27 - 2012-01-30 11:34

nothing's got to do with your knowledge, or lack of. Like I said initially, continue being duped.

      @ Michael Knowledge of what? - 2012-01-30 12:09

Out of interest how do you know he paid 5 years in advance? Frankly I dont know why anyone (apart from the ANC membeship manager) cares whether he has paid or not. Those pinging him and those defending him are equally wrong. Its such a small issue? If he hasnt paid then "sorry it slipped my mind here's R36 for the arrears

Myvision - 2012-01-30 12:24 Its because this story is not new, prior to them being charged for ill disciplined, the credentials were verified and confirmed. If he was not in good standing then he would have been fired. Secondly, his membership was also verified in December during the Limpopo provincial conference at thie University of Limpopo. Thirdly, Im not defending him but I'm stating what i know and I hope the ANC appeals committee upholds the decision to fire him

Senene - What tribe are you from? The head gear you wear is not familiar to me. Or are you just one of toughs smaller less informed tribes in Limpopo? Did some of the tax payers’ money, earmarked for public health care make it to your ABSA account? It’s better for all of the tenderprineers to keep hiding like little children. Soon the poor would be on your doorstep waiting for money. Oh’ and I believe the point eludes you as much as fashion does. This article is only interesting because we told you so. So lets sit back and get ready to laugh at the ANC's next best p(r)ick that will come forward to shame the country. Hehehehehehe. Idiot nob

      Burton - 2012-01-30 11:33

Honestly Senene, this is not that interesting. Babies being murdered, woman being raped, farmers being killed, that is news worthy in my eyes. Malema is maybe a icon to you, and many brain dead people. Wake up, he is enriching his life. He has a bunkered house, as far as I know we aren't going to be invaded soon. He spends millions a year on private parties. He calls for a western culture to be done away with, the he must go live in a mud shack, eat pap, live in the dust and elements, before anyone set foot in Africa, that is all there was. No sewer systems, no buildings above one story. So if he really wants to do something for his people, maybe he should shut up.

      Hotkop - 2012-01-30 11:42

Sesene's shirt is from China. Maybe that helps identifying his tribe.

I have discovered something special here, Rofhiwa and Neil asked the same questions 'who cares' but Rofhiwa's comment is responded to harshly with four thumbs down and Neil is left with only two thumbs down without response. Are they our comments or our names that determine the responses?

      Newsreader - 2012-01-30 11:45

I think it should be re phrased.... 5 million against 40 million..does it help to care? Or 40 million against 5 million..who dont care! So there we have it.. there is no point its a lost cause!

The legal issue is simple... if he was in fact NOT a member of the ANC, then any of his actions, statements and decisions made during the last 2 years were illegal and cannot be considered binding. Besides... how could a non-member of the ANC now be suspended on a membership he didn't have? Watch THAT argument come out in his defence ;o)
