'Mangaung a watershed event'

2012-12-12 14:18

Johannesburg - The upcoming ANC elective conference in Mangaung required exceptional leadership skills to address the country's problems, Agri SA said on Wednesday.

"Problems such as fiscal constraints, labour unrest and reduced foreign direct investment undoubtedly require sound domestic policies as a point of departure if the country is to be prevented from entering into a downward spiral," said Johannes Moller, president of the agricultural trade association.

The elective conference of the ruling ANC is scheduled to get underway in Mangaung on Sunday. It ends next Friday.

Policy decisions

Moller said Agri SA wished to add its voice to that of big business leaders calling for drastic steps to deal with problems in education, with corruption and unemployment.

"Policy decisions taken at Mangaung should be aimed at positively influencing the country's economy... while preoccupation with ideologies should certainly not be on the cards."

Moller said Agri SA was approached to participate in the business programme of the ANC's progressive business forum, which would run parallel to the conference.

"We will definitely make use of the opportunity to engage with Cabinet ministers and other government representatives on matters confronting our sector and the country at large."

I sincerely hope that whoever owns the centre that the conference is being held at have requested full payment upfront. I further recommend that they bolt all tables and chairs to the floor to avoid them being thrown about. They should also ensure that their insurance cover provides for damages by riots.

@kalabafazi: the conference is held at the Kallie Human hall at the University of the Free State. I don't think they pay for it in any case.

      kalabafazi - 2012-12-13 08:37

Shaun - The U2 is a spy plane and carried no weaponary at all. You're thing of a B2 or a B52

You forgot to mention that SA has recently been downgraded by the world's reputable rating agencies, S & P and Moody's. SA has also slided downwards on the corrupition index. Those two factors, which happened in the last 2-3 months, are making it difficult for business overseas to raise capital come down and do business in SA. The same applies for SA businesses having business ventures overseas. Interest rates are much higher as a result of the downgrades. Lastly, education is a mess even though the passmark is a low 30 percent. The ANC has doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, and the dancing womanising thief Zuma is the best? Based on what?

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-12 15:08

I will never respond to you..........I don't waste my time.....

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 15:19

ANC sheep are used to regurgitating the lies of their leaders or throwing insults, or changing the subject, or simply not responding. I am not suprised.

Installing unbiased Internationally accepted knowledge ( Free of Indoctrination ) to adults with the capacity of a 4 year old is beyond me. I have seen your hilarous rants , hence this will be the last post to you. Hopefully in time yopu will learn to be an Adult.

      zuma.compound - 2012-12-12 16:07

zapadela is very fortunate that there is not an IQ minimum (of 80) to qualify one to vote. This is why the country is in the state it is in. People like zapadela think all is rosy and therefore continue to vote for the most useless and corrupt organisation known to man.

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-12 17:03

Compound, I am under no delusion that all is Rosy however I possess the depth to ensure all facts are correlated rather than fester on the Faults. Surely we have SOME corrupt members nevertheless many more are completing a sparkling job at a progressive RSA. Rather than local Media rants , I indulge in International Indices regarding RSA hence my perspective is not as tainted as yours. This Democracy allows all perspectives. As for voting......I have never voted for any Party............FACT.

      heinrich.etsebeth - 2012-12-13 07:50

If you did not partake in the voting you have no right to voice your complaints, praises or any other opinion on a political matter as you have abstained and discarded your right to do so. :P

Jacob Zuma, May 2008: "... we will rule until Jesus comes back" Mayans: World will end on 21 December 2012 Mangaung conference: 16-20 December 2012 Coincidence?

      Eterni80 - 2012-12-12 15:15

probably not, we all know the cANCer won't be able to count the votes..

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-12-12 15:16

Maybe they are issuing new cANCer membership cards just in case they need it at heavens gate.

  • mholthuysen - 2012-12-12 14:37

Of course it is a watershed event - how to protect the elite; how to get more money from the tax payers; how to get a few more tenders; how to fiddle with the judiciary and constitution - does one really believe that the ANC of Mangaung gives a rats ar@#e about the people of South Africa?

      liana.loots - 2012-12-12 14:50

I agree, we need a tsunami of votes to get rid of these idiots. who says whats good for the anc is good for SA.

  • kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-12 14:40

Well the comrades can't even spell leadership, so good luck with exceptional leadership to be seen in mang.. whatever

  • andremandela.julias - 2012-12-12 14:49

Can't wait to see them stuff their pockets with the snacks, keep struggling comrades.

  • june.francis.526 - 2012-12-12 15:00

Were was the ANC leadership - during the Marikana fracas or for that matter when farms were being burned in de Doorns, Or when houses were being demolished in Lenasia. Bet they will be singing each others praises and dancing around like idiots but they really give stuff all for the people of SA. The ANC leadership is an embarassment to the SA public.

  • Eterni80 - 2012-12-12 15:13

the council of fools prepares to act foolishly..

  • douglas.reid.921 - 2012-12-12 15:17

Watershed is when they throw the waterbottles around. This time it could just be bloodshed. Zuma is bullying people to vote for him or be out in the cold. When the votes are counted he might just be in for a shock. Time for change is now. Time to get rid of the greed, self interest, tenderpreneurs, fraudsters, corruption, waste, lies, etc. Time is now, why wait till 2014? ANC must stop pretending all is well, its not. We need good honest capable government who work for and care about the people. If Zuma gets in again then you will have what you deserve ANC.

  • roy.wadhams.1 - 2012-12-12 15:25

And all the crooks will be kept in power by crooks so that corruption can carry on as before. There will be no change and the future will be as bleak as ever.

      nkosi.tsheda - 2012-12-12 15:38

I'm sick n tired by all u mouners go vote n make a change.u dnt want d ANC vot it out dude n stop complaining

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 15:57

Tsheda, can you also tell Zum-zum to fight fairly during elections and stop using impepho to bewitch ANC members into voting for corruption over and over again and toyi-toying over and over again :)

  • nkosi.tsheda - 2012-12-12 15:53

This appears like a site where all mouners come 2gether n share their sorrows and how much they hate govt and d ANC. Its a sorry site n I feel sorry 4 most of these pple. ANC is in power hate them love them they were constitutionally elected. Deal wit it

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 15:59

This is also a site where ANC sheep is educated and disabused of ANC propaganda. Your eyes will also be opened one day. Ask Poloyatonki and his friend Kolobe

      mholthuysen - 2012-12-12 16:21

@ Nkosi feel quite sorry for you as well; besides the fact that your spelling is atrocious; you also do not grasp the easiest part of democracy. It is not those who are in "power" - but those who lead and serve the country - those in power you find in North Korea, Syria and other dictatorships. As soon as people realize that they will also realize that the majority here do not hate the ANC - but rather hate what the ANC does - but I guess to understand that one needs to think objectively....

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-12 17:05

Mike, If you don't understand that RSA is a Democracy......Very little hope for you.

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 17:13

zapadela, so glad to see that you are back. No, SA is not a democracy. It's a perverted type of democracy. Democracy is goverment by the people, for the people where the people elect their leaders and hold them accountable. The people of SA do not elect their leaders. Four thousand five hundred people who go to Mangaung are going to be forced to vote on "slates" prepared by the ANC leadership. The very 4500 people are going to impose the entire leadership of the ANC to over 50 million people of SA. Th ruling party currently has about 1 million people who are also forced to vote for a party, not candidates of their choice during elections. That, is a perverted form of democracy otherwise known as "cadre deployment."

Humpty Dumpty, Manguang, Fall..(We hope)...Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL3-f6WwqmQ&feature=player_detailpage Its about the Nkandla Hareem, 783, the 'castle', about girlfriends and wives and refusal to fix.

  • angela.nair.3 - 2012-12-12 16:06

So millions of South Africans have to put their fate into a few comrades and cadres hands! Are they fit to decide who should be President? are they intelligent and educated enough to decide? Or are they expecting handouts by deciding who should be the next president? I somehow think these guys (and girls?) will be out there to have a jol! Wonder if they gonna take their clothes off - ha ha - remember Malema and company when they ousted Mbeki!!!

  • lungelo.nsibande.7 - 2012-12-12 16:12

Its a shame that u call our Elective Conference a Watershed EVENT! Sorry to u mourners, but at least this site has provided a platform for all of u to cry on! Cry on! Cry on! Till we meet again in 2014! Dr. President JG Zuma will lead u! We will attend to all of your grievances after 2014.

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 16:47

Dr President when he has never even been to school? When he can't think but must have Mathews Phosa/Tony Yengeni writing speeches for him? Tltltltltltl :)

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-12 17:06

Comrade Lungelo...........say it like it is.

      themba.thwala.775 - 2012-12-12 17:18

zapadela, don't encourage Nsibande to tell lies. For example, Zuma is not a Dr. He was conferred with some useless honorary degree. That my friend does not make him a Dr. To get a doctorate and earn the title of Dr, he must go to university for at least 6 years, which he can't because he does not even have Grade 1. But South Africans are generous and have also given him an honorary standard 3/grade 5 :)
