Mangaung restored ANC's image - Mkhize

2012-12-21 12:02

Bloemfontein - The 53rd ANC elective conference that was held in Mangaung restored the ANC's image, the party's newly elected treasurer Zweli Mkhize said on Monday.

"We have a good and strong team. We also have young people from diverse backgrounds ...the party can widely respond to challenges in the party," Mkhize said.

He was speaking at a The New Age business breakfast with the rest of the party's top six leaders.

His job was to meet the "friends" of the ANC, and create more friends for the party, said Mkhize.

Second transition

National chairperson Baleka Mbete said the party was ready to move into the "second transition".

"We have learnt a lot, made some mistakes, we are now well armed to take South Africa forward".

The leadership and the policies in place were well poised for the work ahead.

The conference adopted a National Development Plan that would help address poverty and inequality, said ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe.

"The plans such as the NDP plan and an infrastructure development plan are in place to address problems facing our society," he said.

How did it do that? Nothing changed. Same corrupt beast with same corrupt head.

      infijar.ken - 2012-12-21 12:40

Well, there is no dissension allowed, nobody who wants a slice of the pie will argue with that. There is no tribalism anymore, almost all the top bods are from one tribe, the rest will do as they are told. Nobody will be able to whistle-blow, on pain of *****! There will be no more honest cadres, I'm sure there must have been at least one before.

      Moloi - 2012-12-21 13:07

Mr Mkhize; is not about the ANC but the country. True restoration could only come if ANC could go back to God 100% and not mix Him with anything. This country will never be ok until we come to our senses and realise that we have mlissed it by taking God for granted. You may not understand me now but with time u will. There is nothing new under the sun. In the olden days, a nation allowed all form of wickedness and God was angry.Read Ezeliel 4:16-27. It read thus He then said to me: Son of man.I will cut off the supply of food in Jerusalem. It will be eeighed out with great care, and eaten fearfully. The water will be portioned out drop by drop, and the people will drink it with dismay. Fooda and water will be so scarce that the people will look at one another in terror, snd they will waste away under their punishment.

Mangaung restored ANC's image??? Only in the minds of the deluded. How do the majority who voted Zuma 783, the most corrupt President in history sleep at night. @Moloi - If there was God Zuma would not be in power but behind bars and ACDP would be in power. South Africa is Godless, not because we do not humble ourselves and pray to him but because he does not really exist.

I swear these guys think if they repeat a lie enough it becomes truth.

What image, that of being so corrupt??? Steal R250m of taxpayers money to upgrade your personal house?? Get that secrecy Bill though so those stupid taxpayers don't get to hear about all our corruption...

      debduplessis - 2012-12-21 13:28

.....and the image only gets cleared/restored with actual implementation & repetitive action on a daily basis, proven to be compliant with signed off policy & legislation over time and not with lips service at some 2-4 day event ---- your 2 days spent in Mangang after the election parade is what we Business Analysts call Planning & Scoping! Planning & Scoping is the enabler BUT the proof in the pudding is in the eating which you no where near!

      eddy.deepfield - 2012-12-21 13:33

People would have wished that the impending apocalypse prophesied by the Mayas is true because that would have been preferable to Zumas corrupt and incompetent regime. If there was a God Zuma would be out. But as there is no God there is NO one to help SA.

      lacrimose.wolf - 2012-12-21 21:37

In their eyes - which are the only ayes that count :) All the N24 reports we've read this year - affirmed. Sleeping at meetings, arriving late/leaving early, telling us what we already know. Awarding solar toilet contracts to the dude who sat at JZ's dinner table (no tender required). Some aliens burning things. Finally they all got to do this together, all in one week.

BS !!! a bunch of soul-less minions vote for the worst president SA's ever had, doesn't inspire me with confidence. all they've done, is ensure that SA will sink deeper into the poo. the cANCer doesn't give a toss about the people, they're in it for themselves, to get even fatter, lazier and receive large pay cheques, all while looking for their chance to gorge themselves on our tax money. F but this makes me so mad.

  • xolani.sulanimalghas - 2012-12-21 12:47

The mangaung conference has indeed restored the ANC's bad image,it has revealed how power hungry the Anc top officials are.The anc went against the majority of the people of South Africa by re-electing Zuma whereas the survey has reveàled that motlanthe would be a good president for this country.we are tired of listening to the same broken record that repeats the same thing over and over,we are now going to exercise our constitutional rights which are enshrine in section 19 of Constitution

      colin.dovey - 2012-12-21 14:48

Quite correct @xolani: "We, the people of South Africa, Recognise the injustices of our past; Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land; Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity. We therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this Constitution as the supreme law of the Republic so as to — Heal the divisions of the past and establish a society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental human rights; Lay the foundations for a democratic and open society in which government is based on the will of the people and every citizen is equally protected by law; Improve the quality of life of all citizens and free the potential of each person; and Build a united and democratic South Africa able to take its rightful place as a sovereign state in the family of nations. May God protect our people. Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika. Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso. God seën Suid-Afrika. God bless South Africa. Mudzimu fha?utshedza Afurika. Hosi katekisa Afrika."

  • - 2012-12-21 12:59

Mr Mkhize, read the one small article in The Mercury this morning on the fact that delegates had to be treated at Mangaung for diabetes that they didn't know they had, exhaustion from walking between marquees (and dancing/toyi-toying), requests for condoms and one delegate dying from respiratory complications. Part of their problem was non-functioning airconditioning, remember the Conference started nearly four hours late and don't forget the accreditation disputes. How can the ANC's image not be tarnished by those used to first-world standards?

      lee.brand.73 - 2012-12-21 13:04

Only one death by natural causes? The place didnt get burnt down an Zuma is still in charge! How can you beat that? Heh heh.

  • Malose-Nyatlo - 2012-12-21 13:13

It's good to hear that the ruling party has built a formiddable team that will respond to the challenges faced by the party. This will hopefully have a bearing on challenges faced by the party in government. We all know that functions in organs of state like education have for all practical purposes ceased to exist. No civil servant has been fired for non delivery in the last twenty years and we all know where the problems lie - labour laws. Those new measures mooted in monitoring the delivery of education will come to zero if labour laws are left as they are. The task ahead the new ANC is a difficult one indeed, with general laziness our new general trademark - there must also be a plan to wean the nation off the culture of dependecy and entitlement and to start earning its living.

  • eddy.deepfield - 2012-12-21 13:14

God exists eddy. He is not man and his ways are not our ways. He existed before the begining began. He holds the whole creation together including you. He does not look at us the way we look at one another. He is holy and righteous. Read Colssians1:16-17, you will learn something. He loves us all. He gives everyone chance. It is Zuma' s chance and is up to him of what he does with yhe chance given to him. Even yourself, you have bern given chance to do something that could make this world a better place. Is up to you but change will not wsit for you. If you dont change, change will change you. Even Zuma, same will happen with him.
