Mantashe: Winnie a danger to ANC

2012-07-20 11:31

Johannesburg - ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe has warned that Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's support of expelled ANCYL leader Julius Malema is a danger to the party, the Sowetan reported on Friday.

"What she is doing is dangerous for the organisation," Mantashe was quoted as saying.

"She has taken a decision to go against the ANC national executive committee's [position] on Julius."

Mantashe said Madikizela-Mandela's decision to support Malema was "ill-disciplined".

Earlier this week, the Sowetan reported that Madikizela-Mandela, the former wife of Nelson Mandela, had told Malema in Nqgeleni in the Eastern Cape that his efforts to economically liberate the country had been noticed.

She accompanied Malema, suspended ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu, the league's suspended secretary general Sindiso Magaqa, and her daughter Zindzi, to the official opening of rooms at a child care centre, as part of celebrating Mandela's birthday on Wednesday.

Madikizela-Mandela referred to Malema as her grandson.

"Thank you very much for making us see in our lifetime that it is possible to liberate our people economically and better their lives.

"Thank you very much for leading that [economic freedom] campaign, because it is as [a] result of your emphasis, the youth league's emphasis on the role we should be playing as freedom fighters," she reportedly said.

  • andre.marx - 2012-07-20 11:44

She knows that laws and rules do not apply to her. She is afterall a convicted fraudster that never served a day in prison, a ANC member with stuggle credentials and therefor do as she pleases.

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-07-21 12:43

And an unconvicted murderer of Stompy - remember? What it is to have friends in high places, huh?

      goyougoodthing - 2012-07-21 18:02

As if Winnie's dubious reputation, bad as it is, could do any more damage to the ANC, it's in worse shape than a Minibus taxi and yet none seem to care. To say WInnie is bad for it is like saying the Swastika made Germans look bad in WW2.

      thozi - 2012-07-22 21:49

Winnie is a danger to anything and anyone - everybody should know that by now.

  • Tony Lapson - 2012-07-20 11:44

I can see her handing out more necklaces in the future.

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-07-21 12:45

Wasn't it match boxes? One match, one Boer or something similar? Such a lot of vile spewings that one can't remember them all....

  • Sakhiwo - 2012-07-20 11:52

    It's getting hotter

      msendi - 2012-07-20 12:06

It will cool down very soon. These are politicians, remember…

  • Andrew M - 2012-07-20 11:59

Now even her own are seeing her for what she really is, but will they have the power and the balls to discipline her. Not likely. Wicked to the core pretending to be a goody goody.

  • sidney.gilroy - 2012-07-20 11:59

She wil be dead soon. Don`t pay heed to dying horses. The race is too long for them.

      aristar.aristary - 2012-07-20 19:15

Not soon enough. They say only the good die young, in which case she will live to be 150, because she is the most evil woman I have ever had the dubious honour of meeting.

  • Jacques - 2012-07-20 11:59

I can't wait for the day that old hag keels over, but if she doe's the anc more damage before then, all the better. She'll get her justice in hell.

      aristar.aristary - 2012-07-20 19:17

Not soon enough. They say only the good die young, in which case she will live to be 150, because she is the most evil woman I have ever had the dubious honour of meeting.

Madam Idiot has not yet grasped that the struggle is long over.

      emil.vanmoorsel - 2012-07-20 12:24

Herman who in the ANC has realised that they are in control of the country now and should take responsibility for running it properly. The only reason they want to be in control is to loot the state tax system and fatten themselves .seen any skinny anc politicians except those with a slow puncture in pairlament lately.Winnie rip them apart and then disapear please.

  • Carel de Lange - 2012-07-20 12:12

  • deon.rossouw.56 - 2012-07-20 12:15

You only find it out now old Gwede. I kmow that from long ago, even old Nelson decided years ago she's no good.

  • _PAULM - 2012-07-20 12:16

I totally agree with mama Winnie... under the leadership of JUJU, We have seen a youth league that engaged youth in politics, a youth that thinks critically about its future in terms of economics and so on

      freddie.jones.58367 - 2012-07-20 12:42

So far their 'critical thoughts' are limited to; take away what the white man has built, and destroy it!

      thando.ramncwana - 2012-07-20 12:44

A youth league that has put education @ the back room!!

      Michael - 2012-07-20 12:59

Economic freedom in relation to government tenders? Many ancyl members have no clue how they want to atain economic freedom. People need what white people have, but they dont want to do what they are doing to get what they have. Hard work my friend and going to school and to pass with good sysmbls. Tenders! Yoh!

      gerald.parker.9847 - 2012-07-20 13:07

Plesae tell me when do you stop being a youth and start being an adult.

      geraldsebanda - 2012-07-20 15:21

Yippiee, its weekend and Im off to my river cottage. I probably wont see any of jujus followers there, they will be too busy burning a school or clinic in the name of the political and economic struggle! that and they cant swim....

      aristar.aristary - 2012-07-20 19:19

The youth league find their political thoughts up their noses.

      zs5zk - 2012-07-21 21:00

A Useless bunch of UNEDUCATED, JOBLESS Loafers and Criminals, the whole of the ANCYL but i like you as you are doing what nobody could do, SPLIT and DESTROY the ANC. Thanks you @rseholes.

  • chaapo.sithole - 2012-07-20 12:18

When will anyone who incites people to murder a child be considered safe or disciplined in any rational society? She did her part earlier on but then turned into scum and she has reamined that ever since.

  • Michael - 2012-07-20 12:23

Winnie need media attention, and Malema as it hads always been the case, dont know when people are using him for a particular purpose. Can someone help Malema please!!

  • ako.gutshwa.7 - 2012-07-20 12:23

Nelson Mandela distanced himself from Winnie so as Thabo Mbeki because they knew excactly what she is made of but Zuma decided to bring her closer not knowing that he is bringing himself a snake. Winnie is a kind of snake that you shouldn't bring closer to you, look what she's doing now.

  • segomotso.joshua - 2012-07-20 12:24

if she can tell journalists & writers that mandela struck the worst deal 4 blacks, insinuating that the old man sold us out, what is the anc leadership 2 her.

      nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-20 12:52

yup, she is the one that started the idea that Nelson Mandela sold blacks out, she is a bitter witch that hates the fact that her ex-husband is a great leader & she is a nobody.

  • xmanganyi - 2012-07-20 12:25

When the Big Mandela dies, we will see trouble around and within the ANC

      nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-20 12:57

Yea, Winnie is like a vulture circling around the old man, she actually couldn't wait for him to go, she started her campaign to get revenge & take control of the ANC years ago, many nights teaching Julius Malema ancient revolution strategies, she brainwashed him (wasn't too hard) to start her revolution, one of revenge & hate to get attention because she couldn't stand living in her ex-husbands shadow as a slut & a murderer. This witch is a snake, she is very dangerous, Malema is just her puppet.

      liana.loots - 2012-07-20 13:00

I agree, it will be like letting the dogs out

      sanda.mnyazi - 2012-07-20 13:35

nigel.vanysendyk were you there with them (winnie and juju) when Winnie was doing all that?

  • Dikotsi Ramakhera Petrus - 2012-07-20 12:25

Winnie is afraid that she is about to be forgotten. I agree, she is dangerous, she is poisonous to our liberation struggle, she wants attention and she thinks the best way is to be attached to Mr Malema. For her to 'thank' Malema for 'showing her the way', is too embarrassing.

      Jason Pearce - 2012-07-20 12:42

You speak the truth my friend

      joubert.joep - 2012-07-21 04:27

  • shirley.steenkamp - 2012-07-20 12:38

We all know what she is! The BIG question is what are you going to do about it?????????

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-20 12:40

One woman is a danger for the organization?. I would have thought she was that from day one. Strange how they kept quiet in the past and now all of a sudden she is a danger. Yeah! right.

  • nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-20 12:41

I said a year ago that Winnie Mandela is the witch behind the scenes. The Polekwane "coup" where some fools like Malema helped get rid of Mbeki was inspired by this woman who is bitter & wants revenge. This is why she is poisoning others to do her dirty work. The idea of nationalization comes from her, when Nelson tried to implement 16 years ago, he quickly realized that it would be a disaster, but Winnie thinks she knows better, she is no longer relevant & she doesn't just want to be remembered as a cheat & a murderer, she wants more, she wants to overthrow the ANC & get revenge for being an outcast like her apprentice, Malema. Well Mama, maybe you have finally bitten off more than you can chew & I hope that the ANC gives you & your co-conspirators what you deserve.

  • Michael - 2012-07-20 12:45

Pffft, YOU and Zuma are a danger to the party. I never thought I'd side with Winnie, but any enemy of the ANC is a friend of mine. This beast called the ANC needs to be split up to give any other political party a chance. Seems ANC has forgotten the philosophy of Ubuntu. They forget that they exist because of the unity of EVERYONE, not just those they choose.

  • desire.shandu - 2012-07-20 12:50

  • Dhavandran - 2012-07-20 12:53

LOL, the ANC is its own enemy.they are only at peace with themselves if they are at war with somebody else.

  • desire.shandu - 2012-07-20 12:54

Winnie does'nt carry much weight in the party anymore, so she'll say and do anything to matter, it's pathetic!

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-07-21 12:55

Take a look around and see, listen and look at the amount of infighting, these brothers are at war with themselves.....Why? GREED, give them your hand and they will take your whole arm and body, only problem with this is this is our country we speaking about which in time to come the will turn into another Zim...what a pity!!!!

  • carel.steenekamp - 2012-07-20 13:02

The old (lame) joke has it that mixed feelings occur when your mother-in-law drives your new car over the cliff. A bit like when Mantashe lays into Winnie; I can't decide whose side I'm on.

  • sarah.bouttell - 2012-07-20 13:04

I think these buggers have it all wrong. With proper education comes economic freedom otherwise the government will forced into giving handouts. An appropriately educated person can be self sustaining and doesn't require anything from the politicians.
