Manyi fired as govt spokesperson - report

2012-08-06 07:23

Cape Town - Jimmy Manyi's contract, which expires at the end of the month, will not be renewed, according to a report.
The Sunday Times reported that the government spokesperson was informed of the decision.

It is not known whether he will leave the public service or be transferred to another department or government agency.

The ANC’s NEC member and former spokesperson Jessie Duarte will replace Manyi, the newspaper reported.

Manyi’s position would apparently be advertised, a senior government insider said.

Manyi has courted controversy since he began working at the labour department in 2009.

He will be transfered to another post man what is the use of removing him.

      Koos - 2012-08-06 07:50

What is the use of keeping him?

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-08-06 08:19

He will probably be the new minister of foreign afairs or Education?

  • derick.coetzee.56 - 2012-08-06 08:04

"since 2009" took them 3 years to figure it out. he is most probably on his way to becoming the minister of "eBasic Education."

      sharon.erwin.96 - 2012-08-06 08:50

He most certainly qualifies. The ANC must be so proud of him following in their policy of dividing the nation. Basic Education would be the next logical position for him!

      Derick, maybe Home Affairs?.

      bob.mcmillen.564 - 2012-08-06 08:11

True Nigel, but probably to be replaced by another racist ANC cadre.

  • fanie.viljoen.73 - 2012-08-06 08:13

And so he will be posted to a more senior post, just to say sorry.

  • bob.small.7547 - 2012-08-06 08:50

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Manyi!

  • peter.t.solomon - 2012-08-06 09:07

Good news. One man who was at the helm of promoting racism in SA.

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-08-06 10:10

Jesse Duarte, do not like us either. He will probably become an Ambassador or something like that. But seriously who cares?.

  • Blixum - 2012-08-06 10:41

    Bloody caddre. Good riddance!

  • sango.jika - 2012-08-06 11:20

Its about time, can they do the same with the minister of education she's another useless being.

  • khaya.blaai.1 - 2012-08-06 13:44

It is totally misleading to have a report saying that Manyi is fired, whereas the content of the story clearly indciates that his contract is coming to an end. I cannot see how a contract expiry can be translated into being fired. This is a blatant indciation that newspapers will go at any length to sell their papers. This is irresponsible.

  • jim.dickson2 - 2012-08-06 14:57

"Jessie Duarte will get his position" "His position will be advertised" Which is true? If both, why bother?

  • Ntshobs - 2012-08-06 16:04
