Mbalula lashes out over ANC factions

2012-10-15 10:16

Johannesburg - Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula has lashed out at those who linked him to factions in the ANC, the Sowetan reported on Monday.

The Sunday Independent earlier reported that Mbalula was now backing President Jacob Zuma in the coming ANC elective conference, quoting unnamed sources.

Mbalula was linked with a campaign to replace ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe, a move led by the ANC Youth League.

But Mbalula described these reports to the Sowetan as "a desperation of political thugs and their cohorts who have elected to subject me to political lynching".

"Those who possess uncontrollable ambitions to ascend to leadership by hook or crook, or position themselves as king-makers, will not hesitate to play dirty tricks," he was quoted by the newspaper.

Mbalula also lashed at Zizi Kodwa and businessman Sello Rasethaba who had been quoted as saying he was amenable to their proposals to ditch his ambitions to replace Mantashe, the Sowetan said.

The Sowetan reported that Kodwa, a former Zuma spokesman, had been quoted as saying they were trying to make Mbalula understand that "he can't be part of a coalition that can't be defined politically".

"There has to be a generational mix, but the generation of 1942 can't be forced out," the paper quoted Kodwa as saying.

Mbalula said: "...I neither need spokespersons nor self-styled messiahs in the form of Zizi Kodwa or Sello Rasethaba to speak on my behalf."

At the end of the day it may not be easy for a young man like Mbalula to surrender his R2m salary for a lousy SG salary paid by the ANC

If the factions were elevating your name in the candidate list, i guess you would be singing a different tune boy. I dont see you as the minister in the next administration. You seem to be a gonna.

Why don't you just focus on your sports portfolio, just another example that ANC,so called ministers, locked in factional power struggles and their own narrow interests rather than actually doing their job. The cANCer is so hopelessly divided at the expense of this country and its people. The country and its priorities are on hold until this elective conference in Mangaung. The ANC is quickly becoming its own opposition

Perhaps when you're not too busy, you would also lash out against crime and corruption, and perhaps not only lash out, but actually do something to save a country being torn apart by criminals and your own damn party.

Politicians must stop thinking that ordinary prople who hold no political positions are mindless. Today they drive people to this direction and the following day to the other direction. All politician strive for their political gains and associatwes themselves as such. In histroty of politics in SAnew erra, there are less than few uncorrupt politicians. The country and the ANC have made fatal compromises and now they still wan to make even more. There is no way this country can afford an opportunity to politicial who benefit from government resources using their political powers , not pay taxes to the country yet they claim to be pro good and clelan governance. I mean people who speak of multiracial SA and act the very opposite. People who manipulate and use valnarable poor people. Politicians stop thinking that odinary people dont see what you doing. Speak not what people want to hear but what people must hear. ANC will not be able to fight corruption in the next two decades given the charecter of polioticians we currently have and are having in making. siya
