Motlanthe won't be fired - Zuma

2012-12-21 14:21

Bloemfontein - President Jacob Zuma has given the reassurance that his deputy in government, Kgalema Motlanthe, will not be fired.

“The speculation must end, that issue is clear,” he told the audience at a business breakfast organised by The New Age in Bloemfontein on Friday morning.

He also said Cabinet won’t be reshuffled following the ANC’s recent conference here.

“Those who are ministers will remain ministers,” he said.

There has been speculation that Zuma would reshuffle his Cabinet and exclude ministers who had campaigned against him like Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula, Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale and Arts Minister Paul Mashatile.

Zuma also didn’t rule out the possibility of a woman president in the ANC in the near future.

“Even today there are qualified women who can be a better president than we are,” he said.

There has been speculation that AU commission chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who received the most votes of all the additional members of the National Executive Committee, and who received a special mention by Zuma at the breakfast, is being groomed to be a future ANC president.

“Even today there are qualified women who can be a better president than we are,” he said. AKA Helen or Lindiwe! :D I'm so sick of the ANC...

      Erna - 2012-12-21 15:11

Well said Jacqui. I am so sick and tired of the sexist remarks some of these men make! Makes you wonder how they treat their women folk.

      dingiswayo.nyambose.1 - 2012-12-23 10:56

  • mapitsi.mogale - 2012-12-21 14:38

Never saw tht one coming but it makes him a smart person coz Motlanthe did nothing to him it would have been even selfish to do so, while on the other hand he speaks about uniting the movement. With the conference being over nd he knows that motlanthe nd those others are not a threat on his throne coz he still attchd to it.

      scouter.fourone - 2012-12-21 21:53

You wouldn't like to repeat that in common English, would you?

      omo.naija.750 - 2012-12-22 14:37

@Scouter & Ramon... Enough with your “i am superior to Africans because i speak and write better English attitude”. Many of you here become language police when Africans comment and their comments are full of spelling mistakes or written in a different manner. It is really unnecessary because any intelligent individual will know that the level and standard of education as well as style of writing varies amongst the masses. I was born and raised in Nigeria to a family of Cambridge graduates and I got sent to the best schools in Nigeria. I also graduated with 1st class honors from Lagos state university but I don’t go around making fun of people who are less educated than me or who choose to write differently. I find your condescending tones towards Africa and Africans really sickening and a clear preview of the sick society South Africa is. What perturbs me is that when a rural Afrikaner, Dutch, German or French person comments here and commits similar writing errors I don’t see you folks complaining or pulling the “I am superior card”??? I know many well groomed and educated Africans like me who will trounce the both of you combined in any intellectual debate and put your language skills to shame but we don’t go around making fun of people. We are thankful that we are this educated and enlightened. Your combined reaction to mogale's comment is nothing short of ignorant to put it mildly.

      bmalulekehlongwani - 2013-01-02 03:25

Only stupids regard English as a symbol of intelligence or education

      Susan Malan - 2014-02-18 12:28

Omonaija -the language aside... anyone referring to Zuma as smart must be an idiot

      Erna - 2012-12-21 15:01

It doesn't take much for you to be proud of zuma.

      Sibusiso - 2012-12-21 15:58

Black people, pls understand this.Whenever the govt does something for u ,it is not out of the goodness of their hearts.No.It is their responsibility as govt. They are not doing u a fvour. It doesn't matter which party is in power, all of them have a responsibilty to take care of the citizens. However that does NOT mean u have to expect handouts from govt. No!U still have to work hard for whatever u aspire to in life.Actually ,the basic point of departure is EDUCATION.Get an education.

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-12-21 14:58

      rory.n.price - 2012-12-23 18:56

Dingiswayo, can say what you like about Zille, she is the only person that has received a clean bill of health by Moody's, the rest of the Provinces and a large majority of ANC leaders, the only accomplishment they have made in life, is getting recognition in Forbes Rich list

  • collins.ntelele - 2012-12-21 15:08

  • zolisa.dlokovu - 2012-12-21 16:26

I support the idea of grooming Dr Nkosazana Zuma to be the president of South Africa. This woman is a good administrator , is not corrupt. Dr. Nkosazana Zuma is a product of black counciousness movement and is one of the few BCM leaders who have not abandoned the teachings of Steve Bantu Biko. This is a great idea

  • prince.mthalane.3 - 2012-12-21 16:30

These speculations were created by the media, we want real news not speculations

  • Dumisani Mkhabela - 2012-12-21 16:55

If Nkosazana Zuma was our president and deputised by Motlante may our country would be a democratic paradise than this democratic hell we are living in now. Whatever this woman touches works the best. Look at the health department and home affairs during her glorious days, it showed grt improvement. JZ is hell himself that is why the two could not coupe. Nkosazana u r the angel.

  • willem.louw.16 - 2012-12-21 20:12

In Dlamini-Zuma becomes the next president of this country, God help us all. Someone please look at her track record. Just about every department she has run, has been a catastrophe... I really don't understand what this woman's claim to fame is... why she is still around in the face of all the mistakes and issues she has caused, is beyond me.

      sihlangu.hokweni - 2012-12-21 20:39

      SARAFINA2 ?

      dingiswayo.nyambose.1 - 2012-12-23 10:51

  • mbambo.shi - 2012-12-21 21:10

The New Age pasted Nkosizana Dlamini while the story was trash-uttered by Jacob ''Uncircumcised Spear'' Zuma, WTF. As always, another poor editing from the ANC controlled-reporting from the so called ''The New Age''.

      amoh.nkqayana - 2013-02-13 09:53

  • 0001000ghost - 2012-12-22 10:01

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma? This woman does absolutely nothing. For the life of me, I don't know why her name keeps popping up.

      dingiswayo.nyambose.1 - 2012-12-23 10:49

She is worse that zille... Just useless.

  • Richard - 2013-07-15 12:05
