No division in ANC - Gigaba

2012-11-13 11:46

Johannesburg - Discontentment is not a sign of division in the ANC, Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba said on Tuesday.

"There is no division in the ANC... Ill-discipline is not a sign of discontent, it is a sign of ill-discipline, we deal with it. You can never equate the two," he said.

"Ill-discipline belongs in the dustbin and discontent is a natural movement because any movement that is alive... must contain those necessary tensions between those who believe you can do better and those who are happy with what you have."

He said the tensions would ensure balance within the party. Gigaba said the ANC needed to deal with various problems facing it.

Gigaba said leadership of the ANC was a democratic process and he was happy to serve the party wherever he was deployed.

The ANC is holding its national elective conference in Mangaung next month.

uummmm ... tell that to whoever may think you making sense! Start disciplining all those use the office position for personal wealth creation thereby promoting corruption & fraud... fire them all (not the escape goats) from office positions so that our economy can again proposer -- lets see the evidence of that THEN maybe we shall start listening to a "voice of reason"

Ill-discipline is not a sign of discontent, it is a sign of ill-discipline, we deal with it. You can never equate the two," he said. "Ill-discipline belongs in the dustbin and discontent is a natural movement. Starship Enterprise is disconnected from reality!

The division in the ANC is that they have divided the country among themselves and each one of them can decide without consultation to evict, arrest and kill citizens without any consultation. We are like sheep in a slaughter house. But we have ourselves to blame for following blindly like the sheep we have become.

That's rich coming from an Afrikaaner.

      johan.grobler.12327 - 2012-11-13 13:42

Roiboss, just stating the true facts. You know, the age old question of right or wrong. Nothing to do with race. Intelligent black people are rising up to call for change. Maybe I should have said the not so well informed masses.

  • Peter - 2012-11-13 13:08

Corruption, self enrichment, lobbying for influential positions are the order of the day in the ANC while people live in tin shacks and our rhino population approach extinction. If ANC are voted back in again, to continue with its shenanigans and purposful fudging of everything, voters only have themselves to blame. Malusi? Where's the democratic process you refer to, when voters choose an unaccountable party and not an individual who is accountable for his/ her actions. Someday, the farce will be seen through only question is: when?

  • michael.jackwood - 2012-11-13 13:08

Gigaba is right, ill-discipline belongs to the dustbin, also ANC is like a big ocean, if rubbish enter the ocean by mistake, it does not stay in there for a long time.

  • jacyjays.letsoalo - 2012-11-13 13:14

Malusi Gigaba my friend I know Division is a Mathematics variable but it is also a variable for basic arithmetics for ppl with opposing views in the same group fighting for the same resources! The ANC is divided into two over who has to be the leader for the next coming years! If it wasn't like that we would be talking \unanimously\ on a leader to take the ANC from Polokwane, Mangaung and Beyond! Now that is what I call FREE EDUCATION to u Malusi Gigaba, I know u want to sound aligned to the party but we can see the cracks widening! The elective conference will further widern the divide that was born in Polokwane by the former KingMaker Julius Malema and a lot of his disciple including Major Conspirator Jacob \Laughalot\ Zuma. We are not naïve to see what is happening here...oh Malusi please don't forget that as a former ANCYL member we made it a point u go to parliament and don't relax just becos u are smoking the same pipe as the upper echelons of the ANC. So there is division and there seem to be no Peacemaker in the party

      mshiniboys - 2012-11-13 15:22

Ok he means to say that the word ANC does not contain this ÷ sign.

      jacyjays.letsoalo - 2012-11-13 17:19

@Mshini he must also remember that Division doesn't always means separation! However, he sounds like a Sundowns coach who on Monday said the reason his players lose it is because they are afraid of losing. Comrade Malusi we aren't fooled by this maybe u must go Flowers to ur lover again with state coffers like u did in the past! Or continue confiscating illegal DVD's that is ur favourite past time...YAWN

  • dan.gleebits.33 - 2012-11-13 14:22

Say it often enough and you'll believe it yourself, Malusi. No-one looking at the ANC objectively does. Here's the problem: absolute power held for so long has led to a feeding frenzy of self interest in the party (hence the corruption from the very top all the way down to local level). Everyone wants their own - as big as possible - slice of the cake and will join the faction that they think will deliver it to them. How about your thoughts on what's happening in the Eastern Cape, as an example? There we have a regional chairperson Nceba Faku, discarded as mayor of the NMB Metro (see the Kabuso Report, Google it for some interesting reading on ANC incompetence - we're still waiting for the follow-up on that) now actively undermining the equally failing Mayor Wayile in the Metro. I suppose that's also just a case of "discontent" not "division"? Here's another local ANC leader's own view on Faku... http://www.peherald.com/news/article/9018 No, Malusi, you're fooling no-one but yourself, even the local voters in NMB are now up in arms on no service delivery as a result of failed ANC leadership.

  • elspeth.hassall - 2012-11-13 14:27

  • andrew.arnesen - 2012-11-13 15:53

Read between the lines- if he says 'it isn't', that means that 'it is'... So, there is discontent in the ANC? Shame, man! But that would seem obvious given how much discontent there is OUTSIDE...

  • mart.botha - 2012-11-13 15:55

Division implies 2 factions........may I suggest 'a splintered ANC' with many more fractures appearing the closer they get to Mangaung!

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-11-13 16:30

The ANC need to start by showing some integrity and respect for the people. At the moment it is run by a bunch of thieves, whether they steal for self enrichment or they steal for extravagance it amounts to the same thing. Until such time as those who are made responsible in the ANC come down to earth and stop enriching themselves and start working with more responsibly with taxpayers money and not just splashing out of parties etc will be a good start. Until we can see a leader who will bring those who step out of line to book and send them on their merry way and start doing the job we pay them to do, instead of arrogance we want service. We want a leader who will lead by example we have seen how zuma leads and its not be example, its by selfishness.

  • NKAISANA - 2012-11-13 16:54
