No major shifts seen in Zuma's speech

Durban - IFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi did not expect any groundbreaking policy shifts during President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation address on Thursday evening.

"I would not be surprised if citizens tuned in simply to see what the president says next. Not because we are waiting for any groundbreaking policy shifts or admissions of failure, but because our president has become so adept at the faux pas," he said.

Buthelezi said he had warned the African National Congress against making exaggerated and unrealistic promises, which insulted people’s intelligence.

“If it were not bad enough that the president's promise of half-a-million new jobs turned into a net loss of employment, the ANC has maintained its steady course of deception through propaganda.”

How about the promise that if they vote ANC they get a free pass to heaven. Wonder if he will mention that again...

And a free shower installed in the toilet, even if you have aids , the magical shower will cleanse the disease off your system. BTW, i am a big supporter of ANC as a party and not the people running it.

Radio - you are a big fan of the anc , but not those running it? You like their flag? Perhaps you Enjoy their free beer and chicken? Or is it that you are on the recieving end of some dodgy tender. Dammit, I will never get into an ANC supporters head.

@Paul. If you could get inside an anc supporters head you will find nothing. One has to be brain dead to vote for them

I am sure he has nothing new to say, scary thing is that means we have another year of the same old crap. I would be delighted if he would resign. Government should give him and Malema a billion rand and a platinum mine if they promise to disappear from public life - for good.

Except that it is now ANC policy that their members go to heaven

I also think that JZ wont make any groundbreaking policy shifts........but he still remains a shifty character. LOL!!!!!

  • Francois - 2011-02-10 15:33

Zuma has actually done more shifting that Ngatsha has done since 1975. Zuma is tortoise and ButheLAZY a snail, and now the snail says the tortoise will not go fast enough. The snail must just go!

And so the steady downhill slide continues with leaking sewer pipes, collapsed hospital system when the like of Baragwanth was the envy of the world and is now just another run down dump, dams falling apart, sewage farms spewing into our rivers, ag the list goes on and on and still they stand around and talk then pompously rush over there with blue lights flashing to talk some more and offer chicken to the voters.....what an absolute joke this government is!!! State of the Nation address, what rubbish......crumbling instead of address would be apt.

    Same shift different day
