North West colleges set to be refurbished

Johannesburg - Two North West agricultural colleges - in Taung and Potchefstroom - will be refurbished, Premier Thandi Modise said on Friday.

A contractor was already on site working on all structural defects, Modise said in her state of the province address in Mahikeng.

This came after reports that criticised the condition of the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture.

Modise said: "There is no need for people to sweat and misrepresent us on this matter."

She also announced the launch of the Kgora Resource Training centre at Ramatlabama, which would equip aspiring farmers with practical experience on farming methods.

The North West government should seek to make agricultural learning and training facilities in the province the best in the country, the premier said.
