Ramaphosa: Vote or the Boers will take over

2013-11-11 07:57

Johannesburg - ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa has urged a Limpopo resident to vote or else the "Boers" will come back to power, the Star reported on Monday.

"If you don't vote the Boers will come back to control us," Ramaphosa reportedly said in Seshego.

He was speaking to disgruntled resident, Johanna Phala, 49, who had vowed not to vote in next year's elections because the ANC had disappointed her.

The unemployed single mother of three blamed the high unemployment rate on the ANC and said she had lost hope in the party.

Ramaphosa asked her to reconsider her anger towards the ANC-led government.

He was in Seshego, hometown of Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema, to drum up party support.

"If all South Africans don't vote, we will regress. The Boers will come back to control us."

Ramaphosa's remarks echoed a study released in April by consumer insights company Pondering Panda which found that 46% of youth respondents of all races believed the DA would bring back apartheid if it won next year's elections.

You can only be racist if you're white, right?

      Patrick Buckley - 2013-11-11 08:02

I thought he was supposed to be a clever man.... Apparently not!

      Vuyani Mahlutha - 2013-11-11 08:06

Ja Patrick I thought so too but after he blamed apartheid for the incompetence of the teachers I realised that ANC has run out of leaders. Its time for a change

      Jacques Van Dyk - 2013-11-11 08:11

It seems Cyril also still thinks everything is black and white.. Reverse racism. But this time around it's ok because blacks can not be racist. Ha, ha. Ramaphosa you racist Rampokker, get your foot out of your big mouth!

      Walter Oldnal Latham - 2013-11-11 08:18

I used to have a lot of respect for this man, whom I thought was perhaps one of the most capable in the ANC..... now that's flown out of the window and clearly it's a black and white thing with the ANC. VOTE DA for an unbiased, non-racial party.

      Lee De Marco - 2013-11-11 08:21

My dear white people - you are asking the wrong questions once again. This is what needs to be considered - in this day and age, why does this comment still have traction amongst the non white electoral.Instead of crying racist at everything you disagree with, how about considering what white people have done in the last 20 years that would make a lie out of this statement. In this respected Red October really messed up things- imagine if they had walked on behalf of all people, now that would be have a show of solidarity, but no - now its used as a showcase for all non white people - that white people only care about themselves :-(

      MikeyHarky - 2013-11-11 08:23

Lovely photo of him picking in his nose. Is he trying to change his mind manually? So typical of this lot

      Oom Ruckus - 2013-11-11 08:23

Aaahhh, nothing like a controversial statement by an ANC cadre to get the week started...

      Phillip J Fry - 2013-11-11 08:31

Cyril going full retard and racist in one go

      Rendani Tshiwalule - 2013-11-11 08:34

Cyril is a racist, he proved it!

      Amanda van den Berg797 - 2013-11-11 08:38

      Brainwashing the illerate!

      Ayanda Koza - 2013-11-11 08:40

This is so true and I agree with SA's youth and Cyril Ramaphosa. The liberation movement is the ONLY one who can keep us from Apatheid

      Sarah Stanton - 2013-11-11 08:44

Proof enough, that no matter how educated any man, human nature will dictate, that he will do and say *anything* to protect his own interests. The majority of people in our country will remain poor and uneducated, because it serves the purpose of keeping the rich minority richer.

      gerasimos - 2013-11-11 08:45

How come when we consider the ANC and its leadership the scum always floats to the top?

      Eric Moneyvalu - 2013-11-11 08:47

Good news . I am registered in my new area. didnt take time actually just 5 minutes.Ive also been speaking to some of our Black staff and they are voting DA . They say say they love Helen Zille even if she white lol. So stand firm be bold there is a chance. Our Black Bros and Sis might be quiet but damn they not stupid.

      Rudi Smith - 2013-11-11 08:47

Great photo of the hippo man searching for diamonds in his nose! BTW you have to be the dumbest people on planet earth if you think the DA will bring back apartheid hahahahahahhahahahahah!! what a joke...good laugh for the morning

      Mr Badbones - 2013-11-11 08:50

Cyril is a bumb *ss .......... the only way the ANC can win votes is to keep thinking their people are also dumb *sses .... ..... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA .......

      Frederick Kaczynski - 2013-11-11 08:54

      is that a smaat waatch?

      Quinten Armstrong - 2013-11-11 09:02

Now the desperation is so grave that racist slants like this are made to try win back voters and that makes me nervous about how many tips and tricks they are learning from uncle Bob next door on how to win elections. I'm fast becoming more and more suspicious about how free and fair these elections will be.

      Mattewis Kat - 2013-11-11 09:05

@FJ Cele Unfortunately I think Timmy does (believe the lies)! I wonder if he knows his avatar is dead?

  • FJ Cele - 2013-11-11 08:02

Typical ANC tactics - they are lying - vote DA to free yourself economically by getting a decent education. The ANC leaders are corrupt, uneducated by underestimating your intelligence. They want you to suffer like you have to keep voting for them. This is desperate tactics by the ANC because they know they will be out soon.

  • John Lubisi John - 2013-11-11 08:03

    what? Iyoo

  • Otlile Gwyvara Makena - 2013-11-11 08:04

just shut up! atleast if they take over, the anc will be out! your party is useless now. i wish you were out of power tomorrow!

      WELL SAID OTILE

  • Aidan Hillebrand - 2013-11-11 08:04

That right - play the race card. Divide the nation, cause prejudice and keep power. The nett result - another 5 years of corruption, hiding the truth and laughing at the ignorant masses you have conned again. We should find out which companies Cyril is on the board of directors - boycott them and let them know why their profits and market share is falling.

      Aidan Hillebrand - 2013-11-11 08:10

Please can someone publish a list of companies where Cyril is a director!!!

  • Jayde Rozario Pierce - 2013-11-11 08:05

Agge nee man , Cyril. You never go full retard, Never.

  • Bheki Dladla - 2013-11-11 08:06

"If you don't vote the Boers will come back to control us," Ramaphosa reportedly said in Seshego. Im really sick of the ANC with their dirty tricks on poor people its disgusting. People should be able to express their disappointments about the ANC because its a sad truth and they know it. I believe our constitution is good enough to protect the rights of all regardless of colour. ANC must step up or accept that finally some people are seeing the light.

      Ritz40 - 2013-11-11 08:11

      Well said

      Richard - 2013-11-11 08:20

@ Bheki well said. They have run out of promises that they did not keep so now they bring in the fear factor. Idiots.

  • DerpyHooves - 2013-11-11 08:06

Oh crap, our master plan has been discovered! DAMN YOU RAMAPHOSA! And your meddeling dog.

      Rean Lubbe - 2013-11-11 08:20

He woulda gotten away with it too if it weren't for meddling kids like you

  • Adrian Snyman - 2013-11-11 08:07

Just how bad must your party be if you have to rely on FUD (Fear, uncertainty, doubt), to get people to vote for you.

  • Zulu Makhise - 2013-11-11 08:07

Now see, that is exactly why I say and stand by my statement, that the DA must stop with the mudslinging and start building trust. Not everyone is convinced of their intentions.. I can also assure you, this is a mamoth task and will not happend quickly.. it will take atleast 5 more years.

      Johnny Comments - 2013-11-11 08:47

Fully agree Zulu! The DA should work on the fact that they should be seen as an alternative and not a "white party"

  • Andrew M - 2013-11-11 08:07

This is a total cop out by Ramaphosa, I thought he had more brains but it seems the racist card will always be part of the ANC, no matter what they say to the contrary. Also using the word boers has nothing to do with politics, does he not understand boers means farmers who presently are the ones feeding the country not sitting in Parliament. Ramaphosa shame on you!

  • Lara Baigrie - 2013-11-11 08:07

I can't believe he said this. I have a lot of respect for this gentleman and I am so shocked that such nonsense came out of his mouth.

  • Eugene Trollip - 2013-11-11 08:07

So in apartheid era it was the "rooi gevaar". Now it is the "white" gevaar all of a sudden. Quite a stupid remark by someone I thought was educated. The DA WILL NOT bring back apartheid, pure ANC propaganda. If 46% of the youth belief that, it means that they have been indoctrinated by the ANC.

      Jane Longmuir - 2013-11-11 08:12

Very true, but unfortunately that's what the DA is up against ??

  • Clive Paterson - 2013-11-11 08:08

There are still people who say that only whites can be racist. Ha. The ANC are getting desperate now. Even Ramaphosa is scared of the lost support.

  • Otlile Gwyvara Makena - 2013-11-11 08:08

sayss the man who bids R20 million for a buffalo and only donates R2 million for the marikana victims. this is a snake oil salesman and shud not be trusted as well as his anc cohorts

      arischa.durrheim - 2013-11-11 08:16

      Could not agree more otlile!

  • Japie JJ du Toit - 2013-11-11 08:09

Wow - if this is not true racism - Who are the architects of racism in this country. anc is showing their true color. This is propaganda they preach among their followers. More empty promises. What anger me the most is that the people believe them – so naïve and they think the anc is doing good.

  • arischa.durrheim - 2013-11-11 08:09

I expected so much more frm u cyril!

  • Brad Smith - 2013-11-11 08:10

How did the Nazi party start again?

  • Motlogelwa Seloana - 2013-11-11 08:10

Yes, we have registered and we going to vote but not for the anc, u gave us false hope, empty promises. so, we wont sit back and relax, we going to vote u out, there are parties that needs my vote like EFF which is going to get it, as for u(anc) m done with u.

  • CALAMITYSA - 2013-11-11 08:12

Cyril, If you speak to another audience you'll use another line. Like Zuma? And then - with your knowledge of basic economic and business principles - you can only agree it can only be better if the WHITES - not necessarily the BOERE - controls more of the economy. We do not want to CONTROL - we just want to work together - (an ANC motto) and make our country - black and white - a better place to live in. For the Seshego people who do NOT want to vote - due to the ANC's total mismanagement - for you and for me and my children. We love the country but we can not agree with the leadership.

  • Ansie Fourie - 2013-11-11 08:12

    Bang gat LOL

  • Xisirhelelo Shiburi - 2013-11-11 08:12

yep Cyril i agree wth yu.... wht have to be done UDM or EFF mst b voted most.... DA mst fgt it....!!! whites stil have racism

      Charles Everley - 2013-11-11 08:38

AND BY YOUR VERY SAME LINE OF THOUGHT , YOU ARE IN FACT A RACIST .......AND A PRETTY DUMB ONE AT THAT !!!! READ THE CHILDRENS BOOK THE GRUFFALO AND SEE THE BEAST SCARED OF A CLEVER LITTLE MOUSE !!!! TOU COMPLETE NAIVE IMBECILE

      oi - 2013-11-11 08:39

of course whites still have racism. Now can you agree that blacks do too!

  • SteveJ - 2013-11-11 08:12

Cyril, You were one of the very few ANC leaders that I had any respect for. However, your statements over the weekend have obliterated the respect I once had. You could be a voice which unites all South African but you have chosen to spew the racist and divisive rhetoric of the #1 Buffoon and his cabinet of sycophants. That is so sad.

  • Freddy Khabo - 2013-11-11 08:13

Thats typical ANC tactics, soon they will be instructing SABC to play those struggle dramas and movies in a way of making blacks to vote for them, only the uninformed morons will vote for them

      Willie Mkhabs - 2013-11-11 09:07

Freddy, people vote for their party of choice. You surely cannot be suggesting or telling people who to vote or not to vote for. This is madness.

      Barnie Huysamer - 2013-11-11 09:16

True Freddy. They (ANC) rely on the past to ensure their future.

  • Alex Richards - 2013-11-11 08:14

vote ANC for ANC to stay on gravy train, or vote DA so our land can be governed again!

  • Lebogang Lele Mocuminyana - 2013-11-11 08:14

As for apartheid coming back dnt think that will eva happen anc have abused its power empty promises every year from the wack president he made no difference since he took over time for some change let the new party take over if they fail us we still have more option

  • Stephen Leigh - 2013-11-11 08:15

Oh Cyril, shows how much faith you have in our beloved constitution. Idiot!

  • Chad Flores - 2013-11-11 08:15

Mr. Citrus Ramaphosa, I believe this lady won't fall for your mambo-jumbo intensive bulls**t. On the other hand, it'll be in the best interest for the citizens of Limpopo if the "Boers" take over the province coz you people of cANCer just failed them and did little except for cheap talk.

  • thandekile.mava - 2013-11-11 08:16

Are the boers not allowed to run a democratic government? Because ANC fought for democracy and freedom doesn't mean they must remain in power forever. I'm pissed by this man comments- even if its electioneering he must guide his mouth- I respected him. Yes now I confirm him he is a traitor, a lier, and greedy.

  • Themba Mazibuko - 2013-11-11 08:16

ANC is in for a surprise come the vote ...

      Clinton Tupper - 2013-11-11 08:18

      Lets hope so!!!!

  • Wa Tswera - 2013-11-11 08:16

DA is pro white - ANC is pro blacks and tribal. Who do I vote for? Its obvious EFF for a better non-racial sharing SA.

      Mc Apple - 2013-11-11 08:29

I'm voting EFF but let me tell you that you are so wrong with the "EFF for a better non-racial sharing SA". That is not what will happen.

  • Dean Darron Albertus - 2013-11-11 08:16

ANC running scared. What a cheap shot

  • Dumi Sibam - 2013-11-11 08:16

A rather dumb thing to say for an educated man!

  • Elliot Constable Gxolo - 2013-11-11 08:17

I don't believe this article. News24 probably quoted Ramaphosa out of context. Ramaphosa is very pro-white... It's how his made all his billions! But if it's true, than it shows how the ruling party has run out of things to say, they can't influence the electoral anymore to vote for them. Now they have a track record to be judged on, and for the past 5 years it hasn't looked too good.. So now they're resorting to lies and scare tactics!

  • Thato Tee Phahlamohlaka - 2013-11-11 08:17

Jah you are right, we are going to vote but not for ANC and THE BOERS.

  • Richard - 2013-11-11 08:17

Oh and here is that racism sticking out it's head again. I suppose that is one way of getting people to vote ANC. They do not have to deliver services at all or uplift their own people, they just need to shout "Boer".

  • konanani.rachicoper - 2013-11-11 08:17

i dont want the boers to take over.

      FJ Cele - 2013-11-11 08:19

vote for AGANG - not the corrupt ANC or EFF. They will fail you worse than the "boers" vote for someone educated that can create a better life for you and your children.

      Mc Apple - 2013-11-11 08:29

      Why not konanani?

      Danie Gerber - 2013-11-11 08:33

Don't worry Konanani! The "boers" wouldn't...rather take hands and word collectively to a common goal which were peace, sustainability and harmony. Don't let these people indoctrinate your perspective, its important to form your own independant thoughts to destint between wrong and right...that is in matter fact the essence of true identity.

  • Patricia Dewet - 2013-11-11 08:18

Cannot believe that he uses the same tactics as Malema. Where did he get all his money from, not from working, but from all these B's and E's, now lying to the people. Maybe it will be a good thing if the "boere" take over. There will be proper schools, hospitals, water and electricity and well built houses.

  • bhekie2k - 2013-11-11 08:18

    But that's racist isn't it?

      Ria Cook - 2013-11-11 08:39

So? He's black, he's allowed to be racist.

  • Christopher Booise - 2013-11-11 08:18

Wow, this is unbelievable! And to think this guy could possibly be the next president of SA. How sad!

  • Jodi Kruger - 2013-11-11 08:19

Low blow - striking irrational fear into ignorant people. You should be ashamed at yourself. We all know the "Boers" will never take over. Move past your primitive thinking already.

      Lawrence Masongwa - 2013-11-11 08:42

people don't want the cANCer any more but with insults like ignorance hurled at them, hopelessness strikes in.

      Barnie Huysamer - 2013-11-11 10:35

@ Lawrence. I come to you in peace and love. What word (other than ignorant) would you use to describe people who have been lied to for 20 years and still continue to believe the lies? Billions of Rand that should have been used to uplift rural communities has been wasted. I am sure the majority of these rural communities are ignorant of this wastage. I also think most readers who use the word "ignorance" in their comment do not mean it as an insult, but purely out of frustration because people keep voting for the ANC.

  • Ria Cook - 2013-11-11 08:20

And there I was thinking this man had at least a small brain! Obviously there's also a vacuum where the grey stuff should be.

  • Jon Low - 2013-11-11 08:21

Shame on you, Cyril! Shame! Your racism is no longer in doubt.

  • Brett Steensma - 2013-11-11 08:22

What a ridiculous statement! Yet I am sure he is more than happy to do business with the "boers" and allow the "boers" to make him wealthy... State deals only in disinformation to its people!

  • Kelu Lamont - 2013-11-11 08:22

how can the anc be so arrogant and racist??they havent done anything for us in 20 years anyways, besides pillaging state resources and enriching themselves

  • Blackie Swart - 2013-11-11 08:22

I thought he was an intelligent man but I must have been mistaken.

  • Freddy Khabo - 2013-11-11 08:23

Keep on harming your integrity with this corrupt movement,

  • Travis Palm - 2013-11-11 08:23

Ramaphosa and his black racist tendencies... Also, 46% of the youth went full retard.

  • Shock & Awe - 2013-11-11 08:23

Normally I wouldn't post on this forum... But I think Its important for our fellow South Africans to realise that if the cANCer were ever voted out of power , its men of this type ...who will be the first to instigate civil war ...

  • Taki Muhali Sadiki - 2013-11-11 08:23

Yoh i thought cyril had it in him, guess i was wrong this old man is so racist. 19 years into democracy and someone who is suppose to be a role model utter such nonsense
