Sisulu: Take your flea-infested body and sit down

2012-11-14 11:33

Johannesburg - Public Service Minister Lindiwe Sisulu told DA MP David Maynier to take his "flea-infested body" and sit down after he accused her of wasting public resources, Business Day reported on Wednesday.

Maynier raised the issue of Sisulu using luxury jets while she was defence minister during members' statements in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

"I can only imagine that the former minister of defence and military veterans, Lindiwe Sisulu, is desperately missing the ultra-luxury [of the] privately owned Gulfstream executive jets operated by the South African Air Force," he was quoted as saying.

Current Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula had acknowledged in a reply to a parliamentary question that Sisulu travelled in a luxury Gulfstream jet more than 200 times between Pretoria and Cape Town, at the cost of R200 000 a trip.

Maynier said: "The [current] minister of defence claims there were 203 flights. But the former minister of defence claims there were 35 flights."

According to the report, Sisulu said Maynier's claims were "hogwash and balderdash" and instructed him to take his "flea-infested body and sit down".

National Assembly Speaker Max Sisulu responded to complaints about Sisulu's remarks by saying he would study Hansard, the printed transcripts of parliamentary debates, and make a ruling later.

What an immature response to the allegations Lindiwe, I pressume there is some truth in them then.

I just can't understand how she was NOT dismissed immediately! If ANY of the opposition party had spoken in this manner, there would be racism outcry! What she said constitutes RACISM!

I now will pay my tax money to the Rhino Foundation - this would be money well spent - Rather than giving it to gangsters, fraudsters, liars, thieves and unappreciative Brats that this thug cANCer government has become !!!

      brian.connell.18 - 2012-11-14 12:13

Check Hansard? What the hell for Mr. Speaker - weren't you there? Weren't you listening? For once ... stand up and do your damned job. We, the people who actually pay your inflated salary, demand it.

      jason.heineberg - 2012-11-14 12:13

It doesn't look like manners are required in the national assembly. Good strategy though- when caught out, just throw out insults. The incompetence in government posts is really overwhelming.

      aniken.vader.31 - 2012-11-14 12:14

      DOWN WITH ANC!

Sisulu needs to take that piece of flea-infested roadkill off her head.

      p.borchard - 2012-11-14 13:18

Warren van Wyk - *clapping hands* you are so absolutely spot on! The spoilt brat ignoramus sisulu is beyond guilty. When caught with your hand in the cookie jar, throw insults and accusations of racism around and it will all magically go away, nè lindiwe? Amazing how anybody other than ANC MP's can be thrown out of the assembly for just looking skeef at someone else - obviously there are 2 sets of Hansards.

      lynn.syme.1 - 2012-11-14 13:21

Oh how power corrupts! The ego gets in the way of any common sense. What a vile, vile woman!

      fidel.mgoqi - 2012-11-14 15:04

This woman is deranged, scorned, sexually deprived and power hungry. She is a danger to SA and its fiscas! Sies! Imagine a white MP having uttered those words towards any of the black ANC MPs. Imagine the words she reserves for plebeians like US if God forbid we accidentally bump into her in the streets.

      elgh.elgh - 2012-11-14 20:36

The actual point being that our hard worked tax money being used by her in this instance to fly up and down in luxury. This #%^%&* must stop. We should find a way not giving our tax money directly to this corrupt government. As long as we fill their pockets, the longer they will stick around.

      tw2066 - 2012-11-15 06:14

@Bobbycat, no problem let me explain - If the DA guy had said something like this to Sisulu, it would have been racist, ie a white person labelling a black, but vice versa is acceotable. That was the point made, understood, accepted and agreed to 1212 time now.

      thozi - 2012-11-15 11:09

      robert.cerff - 2012-11-15 14:00

@anikenvader That's not racism... it's insulting. Honestly people if you're going to be insulted by someone and immediately play the race card you are no better than those who do just that. @tw2066, don't simply stoop to that level. Don't become the monster that you seek to slay. @Bobbycat, agreed. Insulting yes, no place in the National Assembly, but... racist no.

  • wesley.bischoff - 2012-11-14 11:43

      kala.bafazi - 2012-11-14 11:52

Well its either over 200 or 35 trips isnt it. If its 200 then she must go. But the responses been rude and childish is exactly what happens there, watch the palimentary channel, its unbelievable that so called educated people behave like that.

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-11-14 13:24

They might have a modicum of learning, Gary, but they have extraordinarily little common sense. There is no breeding there just gutter behaviour. It should not be allowed in a so-called respectable place. In the old days the various black tribes had a code of ethics (whether they agreed with the European ideas or not) and courtesy was one of the things they practised and self-respect. Sadly laking these days

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-11-14 13:24

      Sorry, that should read 'lacking'

      Gary.desousa7 - 2012-11-14 13:32

      Antipoaching - 2012-11-14 12:12

Parliamentary privilege allows insults of this sort, however, the Speaker is supposed to castigate those who overstep the mark... unfortunately this creature is his sister so clearly different rules for her and Terror Lekota!

      RudiErnst - 2012-11-14 18:56

Must disagree @grietvan - Not many expect more from her. I think many of us expect exactly this, she has never given anybody a reason to think she is a civilized person. But her desperation to put the white man in his place shows her up for what we all know she is - the wig deceives nobody.

Honourable Speaker, the fact that the dishonourable Minister is your sister should make you harder on Lindiwe, not a mat upon which she wipes her feet! Have you no pride in the family name?

      NkululekoMhlaba - 2012-11-15 09:35

You are mis representing facts he was not chairing that session his deputy Nomaindia Mfeketho and secondly he has to consult Hansard and the relevant parliamentary officer to check if it's inline with parliaments code of conduct as she can sue if te ruling is not inline with the law.

SHAME on YOU.

      Antipoaching - 2012-11-14 12:42

Noelene all parliamentarians are apt to act like idiots (its a politics thing) and have the freedom to say pretty much what they like in the parliamentary chamber HOWEVER one does expect all parliamentarians to be treated the same, if Lindiwe can be so insulting to Maynier and remain in the chamber then Lekota calling JZ names and referring to charges which were brought against JZ (irrespective of whether he had to answer for them in a court of law or not) should elicit the same response by the Speaker, not Lekota's summary expulsion from the chamber

yet another embarrassment for SA and an insult to Black people. Sort your people out Black SA

      tebogo.mabe.56 - 2012-11-14 13:59

She's not a representative of black people in general, Rob. She represents the people who voted ANC

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-11-14 15:18

Rob I hear your point, but listen to tebogo. I was in a discussion today where the same point was brought up. Black and white. They were all so tired of all this nonsense that you could see it on their faces.(ANC that think they are the Almighty)

  • gideon.walt - 2012-11-14 12:35

Absolutely disgraceful! No wonder we taking one step forward and two steps back and no wonder the people of SA also think they can talk to people as they please. Because of your idiotic mentality, and so many others in similar positions, it will take this country at least a 100 years to move past this "this and that is racist" mentality.

  • leila.monroe - 2012-11-14 12:35

I'm just wondering what would have happened if the DA guy told Sisulu to sit down her 'flea invested body'?? All hell would have broken loose by now! Grow up Sisulu and stop waisting our tax money u parasite!

      aristar.aristary - 2012-11-15 04:50

I like your usage of the word waisting. I notice all the ANC have rather large waists. Comes from to much oral ingestion and too little anal egestion. Makes up for being full of sh*t. LOL

  • tshivhombelaf - 2012-11-14 12:38

Sometimes inheriting political seat from parents does not simply mean that you are politically orientated. If this statement was uttered by a whiteman, it would've been dubbed racism. This woman always sounds like a spoiled brat whenever she opens her mouth. She must bear it in mind that she would be judged on the basis of her abilities not her parents'. These sons and daughters of so-called liberation stalwarts think we owe them.

      dave.elmore.5 - 2012-11-14 12:42

      Good comment...

      wesley.bischoff - 2012-11-14 13:09

I agree, we need intelligent, honourable people in government, that are actually able to lead us into a better future. eg. Thuli Madonsela, Mamphela Ramphele, Zille, Masibuko

      talana.malherbe - 2012-11-14 13:31

Agreed @tshivhombelaf, this remark or insult by Sisulu is rude and an indication of low standard, it doesn't matter white or black who ever says something like this to someone,

  • impi.masondo - 2012-11-14 12:40

you cannot make alegations against anc in parlement you must respect the leaders

      qhuggett - 2012-11-14 12:45

      Why?

      willem.botha.5623 - 2012-11-14 12:54

If that is what you say, shouldn't \leaders\ have the most respect towards other individuals? Please answer impi?

      richard.hipkin - 2012-11-14 13:06

respect and leaders cannot be used in the same sentence in SA...

      wesley.bischoff - 2012-11-14 13:10

F**k that! Leaders must respect US! We are the ones that vote them in, that put elevators and bunkers in homes. We are the ones with the power (citizens of SA, not white people..)

      talana.malherbe - 2012-11-14 13:33

@impi, you don't think much of yourself do you? This remark is never acceptable from anyone! Get some selfrespect friend and expect people to treat you properly in life!

      braamc - 2012-11-14 13:44

      GFY your idiot

      Cameron - 2012-11-14 15:25

Love your profile pic..Just shows the thugs support thugs

      parys.fotograaf - 2012-11-14 16:45

Impibecile, get back under your rock and stay there.

      ro.jhb.1 - 2012-11-14 19:14

Impi are you the prick with the rock or is that your brain. A holes like you should have your brains removed and studied for science

      cherri.pye.5 - 2012-11-14 21:24

They may be your leaders, moron, I never voted for them to lead me.

      aristar.aristary - 2012-11-15 04:56

Leaders? This bunch couldn't lead a dying horse to water. They are a useless bunch of fools, who should be removed from power. Impi, that is the African way of thought, and according to your own government, we should "stop thinking this way." In the bad old days, before the whites came to South Africa and dragged it out of the savagery, your people ruled by fear. Your ancestors would invade another tribes land and kill all the men and rape all the women for wives thereby breeding the conquered tribe out.

      aristar.aristary - 2012-11-15 05:28

Respect must be earned. I have absolutely no respect for these corrupt, thieves.

      rohin.jadin - 2012-11-15 09:17

the politicians forget that they are PUBLIC servants - and it's the right and the duty of the opposition to question their antics - we as the public should be grateful that these things are highlighted for public awareness, unlike in the past where we thought all was a-ok because we were kept in the dark.

      Marrok - 2012-11-15 13:35

so respect is this weird thing that is earned. while we're on the topic - uncle walter did not fight for this kind of cow patty. ma sisulu didn't take taxis and buses and WALK with her whole midwifery pakaas on her head to birth the children of this nation. if we can't follow in someone's footsteps, we need to get out of the way for someone who CAN to DO IT! even if you were born from the giants in our history.

  • BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-11-14 12:40

Thus we can clearly see the level of intellect and integrity of our ANC government.
