Tutu's 'white tax is racist'

2011-08-13 18:00

Johannesburg - Calls made by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu for white South African's to be taxed were racist and thoughtless, the Freedom Front Plus said on Saturday.

"It borders on the emotional statements of [ANC Youth League president] Julius Malema and does not contribute to the debate on how to address the country’s economic problems properly," FF Plus spokesperson Anton Alberts said.

Tutu, who spoke at a book launch at the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town on Thursday evening, said the damage apartheid caused was impossible to escape.

He said white citizens needed to accept the obvious: "You all benefited from apartheid."

"Your children could go to good schools. You lived in smart neighbourhoods. Yet so many of my fellow white citizens become upset when you mention this. Why? Some are crippled by shame and guilt and respond with self-justification or indifference.

"Both attitudes make that we are less than we can be."

The Cape Argus spoke to Tutu after the speech, where he expanded on his wealth tax call.

“There were many in the white community who were ready for this [at the time of the TRC process].

“It could be quite piffling, maybe 1% of their stock exchange holdings. It’s nothing. But it could have helped... maybe building new homes, and that would have been an extraordinary symbol of their readiness.”

Asked whether he was again calling for a “wealth tax”, Tutu said: “That’s what I’m saying.”

He then laughed: “What were you doing in there [the conference centre]? Were you listening?”

Tutu said he hoped whites themselves would “agitate” for it to be imposed upon them.

However Alberts said in a statement it was improper to single out white people as they have contributed disproportionately more to the fiscus than any other group for the past 17 years.

"The request for introspection and a greater moral contribution should instead be addressed to the ANC government itself."

Tutu’s race argument was so much more immoral if taking into account the fact that there were already more than 600 000 poor whites, he said.

"Taxes levied on white people will merely be damaging social cohesion and will not contribute anything toward a sustainable economy."

I'll have no problem in paying a once of tax if I am then seen as forgiven for what I may have done to black people in SA! Will my family and I then be seen to be part of the new South Africa? Will we then abolish stupid policies like BBBEE and Employment Equity? Will we all have equal opportunity when tenders are awarded? Are we sure that the money so gathered will be used for poor people and will not land up in the hands of corrupt government officials? Will we use the money to create jobs and through that eventually create wealth or are we going to give the money away? Too many questions - are there answers?

      Naartjie - 2011-08-13 18:57

Great idea pay the 'Wealth Tax' and scrap BBBEE and Employment Equity. If we pay can we then become equal citizens with full rights in our own country?

      Doublepost - 2011-08-13 19:06

The "wealth tax" was already payed back in the 90ties. Tutu just needs to blame someone for the failures of his "people" and the ANC. He is no man of God, that's for sure.

      cliffarc - 2011-08-13 20:50

      - And the payment of the reparation tax should also subject to every corruption thief being charged, standing trial , receiving a jail term if guilty and returning the loot.

      Politicallycorrect - 2011-08-13 21:32

Tutu is a commie dressed in robe having a form of godliness, but without any godly nature!

      Spyker May - 2011-08-13 21:37

Have a double, Doublepost - it certainly seems as if it has been a while since our great Bishop, from Bishop's Court (noggal), has read his Bible; most notably the bit about "turning the other cheek"... Perhaps he should also reconsider what a great man once said - viz Nelson Mandela (I'm sure he has heard of him)..: "...I am not truly free if I am taking away someone else’s freedom..."

Malema is an idiot, now 22 is 1 2.

      daaidoos - 2011-08-15 15:59

well they can't expect any form of reparation tax from me, my salary is far from the clutches of the cANCer, he he he. Oh and by the way I benefited bugger all from apartheid and in fact we are at a disadvantage. I can't find work in SA but I am very much appreciated by my foreign white employers. Oh and my kids go to nice schools in SA because I work for it, not because it was made possible by the apartheid goverment

      Snowbuddy - 2011-08-15 17:27

You have got to be joking Marius ... we are only good enough to line their pockets for them! Little do they realize, that we are going to say enough is enough! We WORK for our money, we also have to live and to just GIVE it to them is bull! Why should we carry on working ourselves to a standstill, worry about good service delivery if no-one else cares at all about making the country a truly democratic country and stand TOGETHER, work TOGETHER, PAY TOGETHER instead of milking the white people! We may as well not even work - wonder what would happen then? Who would fill their purses?

      Enough - 2011-08-15 20:31

      No ;)

      whereu - 2011-08-16 11:58

Desmond Tutu achieved much under apartheid. A few examples are: Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Southern African Nobel prize for peace Numerous books Nobody would deny that Desmond Tutu is highly talented, but my point is that the backdrop of apartheid provided a vehicle to exercise these talents – and good on him for doing so. So the question is this: is he also willing to put his hand in his pocket to contribute to the wealth tax collection? After all he wants those who benefited to pay up. All my opinion. I would be interested in your views.

      Virginia - 2011-08-16 12:48

Marius, your childrens grandchildren will still be hearing about the white domination in this country. I can remember in 1965 warning a young (colourerd)lady , who kept on having children from different fathers, that one day those children would be in the streets blaming me for their problems. So do not think that this will be the only generation to pay that tax, this will be an on going situation. Lots of Malemas still to come.

      Virginia - 2011-08-16 12:55

Naartjie, Tutu has been intouch with Pravin Gordhan, and he has been told that the coffers are bear, to much thieving going on, so who must replace the theft, the whites of cause

      king-louie - 2011-08-24 00:52

Perhaps South Africa should impose a “Crime Tax” on its blacks for their ridiculously high crime rates, corruption, littering and overall high cost to society. This would make more sense. But no. According to Tutu, all these black shortcomings are the fault of the white man, and that same white man, who built the nation of South Africa out of nothing, should be required to throw even more money into the black hole – as if the murders, rapes and robberies he is subject to are not enough.

      slavetotheindustry - 2011-09-03 13:35

Wasn't the country's weal a big enough reward when the ANC took over, and using that to set right the wrongs??

  • ProudofPink - 2011-08-13 18:19

This fool that wears a dress has obviously got senile dementia. He doesn't seem to realise that it's the 5 million mainly white taxpayers that are keeping this shyte hole going in the first place and we're getting rather tired of having to continually be paying for the other 45 million that either don't pay tax or just won't work.

      Mad Hatter - 2011-08-15 08:50

  • Antowan Nothling - 2011-08-13 18:21

Will have to watch his speech first in order to see context of his words but a WHITE TAX would be silly. 1. This country is the most developed in the entire Africa. The ANC government enherited it in its entirety in a very good condition. No denying that. 2. The vast majority of current taxation is spent on development efforts for the poor at this very moment. 3. As I understand it the more wealthy you get, the more tax you pay... be you black or white... 4. Please explain the advantage whites had in Apartheid? Our economic position was equitable to that of most Western (white) nations on earth... I am not saying black people were not disadvantaged by seperate development but you need to quantify it before taxing whites... how much money would be the "debt" that needs to be paid? You risk a serious crime against white kids and young people purely based on the luck of birth. Just as you cannot help being born black... so you cannot help being born white...

Chubb, ADT only exist and thrive in business because there are criminals whose activities can be blocked by these profitable security firms. If there had been fewer criminals doing crime, these security companies would be in low demand -- like gramophone repairers or boat-caulkers. The public would be delighted if the demand for security was so low as to make these businesses unprofitable, but for that to happen criminals will have to stop doing so much crime.

      tracer - 2011-08-14 08:14

@gonny actually its your inability to write correctly that have us guessing your race.

      GonnyVonYuri - 2011-08-14 11:42

lol @ you morons who want to assume my race - this is the internet not the queens english forum - i dont have to give me race - the minute someone goes against the view of racist whites south africans they become black? I could list my qualifications but that would be digressing from the topic at hand. ProudofPink & tracer - you guys are cowards hiding behind nicknames - I would hate for a black man to come across racists like yourselves - god bless them.

      darkwing - 2011-08-15 10:36

@Gonny. Qualifications does not the man make. There's really nothing to getting a degree in SA today. Even if you got them pre 1994, it does not make an intellect. Intelligence is a broad concept.

When this current ANC government proves to have integrity and the money would be spent on uplifting the poor then I would happily pay a wealth tax but right now I'm damned if I'll feather the nests of the seriously over advantaged black politicians.

      Squire - 2011-08-13 19:05

Tutu is also grossly mistaken if he thinks for one moment that the majority of the money is sitting with the whites!!!!

      CNhieronymous - 2011-08-15 16:58

True, because in the end who is going to administrate this tax!?

  • fraserm - 2011-08-13 18:29

We dont have the ability to finance this as well !!!! We cannot posibly be so desperate for money judging by the way government condones theft and missuse of available resources. Its too easy to blame apartheid and the whity. Move on !!!!!!

  • Leslie - 2011-08-13 18:31

I am so tired of hearing how advantaged the whites were. How many of the non-whites had to bury their son's who died during compulsory conscription? We had advantages, yes, but also disadvantages. And it does not matter what shade you are, if you work hard, you will succeed and earn a living wage. But the catch is, you have to work hard.

      Muna - 2011-08-15 00:00

Leslie so only the whites were involved in the struggle?

      maristune - 2011-08-24 15:46

No Munda he's just simply stating that there was no race that was untouched by apartheid. Whether or not you would care to admit it Whites struggle as well in this day and age because of Apartheid. But by no means was he or am I stating that "only the whites were involved in the struggle".

      Jennifer10 - 2011-09-20 10:36

@ Leslie - Unfortunately, this is not true. A vast majority of whites are born with far more opportunity than blacks living in poverty. Poverty is cyclical, and, unfortunately, there is a disproportionate number of blacks living in poverty. In other words, if your parents are poor, chances are that they will not be able to provide you with the means necessary to rise above poverty. In sociology, it's called the cycle of poverty. If one generation is poor, they usually will not have access to to means such as financial capital, education, or connections to rise above it. Therefore, to simply state that to work hard equates a living wage is just ignorant. White or black, it is imperative to know that poverty is not something that you can simply "work hard" and get out of. It is far more complicated than that.

      Buffalo - 2011-09-20 12:24

@Leslie - the problem with a statement such as yours is that it excuses indolence as hereditary. Bullsh1t! Anyone can changes their stars! Too many like-minded liberal a$$holes, do not a flourishing society make. `A vast majority of whites are born with far more opportunity than blacks living in poverty.' This sentence is senseless. Have a closer look at the current population demographics in SA, throughout SA, and revise your comment. 2011 is not 1990.

      Buffalo - 2011-09-20 12:25

Sorry Leslie, I meant @Jennifer10. Oops.

  • Keith - 2011-08-13 18:32

I have always admired Desmond Tutu for his down to earch approch to life and for asking all South Africans to move on, he even lashes out at the Government for their corruption and lack of services. However to continually pick on "whites" to recompence in the form of taxes because we benefited from apartheid is crazy how many whites are still living in this country. From the media we hear plane loads leave every year and even the Liberals at the time dont live here. We paid restitution after 1994 with a tax for RDP housing..........ha ha Dorothy

      william.botha - 2011-08-13 20:04

He never fooled me for one minute. He has been hiding behind the cloth of a western religion. Quite a piece of work he is. This is pure BS and the world must know why Apartheid came to be. It happened for a reason, and that reason is simple, just follow the riots in the UK to figure it out.

      Blip - 2011-08-14 05:56

      william.botha - 2011-08-14 13:38

can you spell r.a.c.i.s.t dearest Tutu?

  • Ampers - 2011-08-13 18:36

This is very sad. I used to laugh at this funny little man but when he started the truth and reconciliation business - it was a brilliant move and at the time, was very instrumental of saving SA from anarchy. I even thought he, in his way, had done even more than Mandela for the unity of the country. I am now a little disappointed with his views. However I won't be too harsh with him as he is getting old and when we get old, we all do and say things we regret. I am 72 so am not far off doing the same, which is why I am perhaps a little more charitable than others here :-) Come on Bishop, already you have lost thousands of able whites because of high taxes, and the fear that comments like this does. But then, perhaps you want to drive the whites out so you can have a country like Zimbabwe. Already thousands of farmers are leaving South Africa because of the murders your people are committing.

      umlaut - 2011-08-15 09:36

But if his old tongue is a risk,- and a VERY BIG RISK for my and other's future in this country-- then they must first veto every speech and control the not so holy man as to prevent this happening. A long battle lies ahead for us now and young people are going to be penalised by evil black guys and the young whites were just born when the anc disgraced this country by taking over power. They are set on vengeance and this unholy fool is joining in on a non biblical act--Vengeance---SICK. He will contribute to the whites as victims moving up on a genocide scale when it is acceptable to victimize a small group, like the Jews in Germany. He has probably just assisted the anc to open up the symbolic gas taps as to wipe out the whites in SA. They are succeding already to kill our culture and habits and traditions. Pray for him--we shall forgive him after he has resigned from his bishop's post.

  • Just keep sw - 2011-08-13 18:39

Hey come on lets be fair ...what Tutu is saying is that we Whites all benefited from apartheid and we owe the country for that. I think that apartheid belongs in the past and the big question is, are the poor currently benefiting or are the ANC Fat-Cats just lining their pockets as the NATS did. If its just another Fat-Cat grab then what the point of a Wealth Tax, if it means we just feed Juju and his fat friends.

      Squire - 2011-08-13 19:13

With due respect, I disagree with the first part of your comment.....I owe this country nothing! I worked damn hard for what I got and I started from the bottom as a till packer in a store and not embarrassed to say it. I was not the cause of apartheid! Why must I pay just because I am white? But I do agree with the second half of your comment.

      ex-pat - 2011-08-13 19:52

Catch up, Naartjie! Maybe the whites did benefit from apartheid, but look around you - do you seriously think they're not already paying, in spades? Tutu is and always has been no different to Malema in as much as he uses populist speech. He just directs it at anybody to please whatever audience he's addressing at the time. He can even say that the Muslim Allah and the Christian God are one and there are various ways to heaven.....and still be an archbishop.

The Holy Word say that "judgement begins in the House of God"! Please pray that Tutu truly meets The Lord who truly forgives and remember the sin of His people no more! His comments are not about race, but about being noticed as no-one carries him around on a pedestal anymore.

  • Ranger_Bob - 2011-08-13 19:02

Another racially based tax. Ironic how there is such a perception that all whites benefitted. Remember 42% taxation????was that a benefit??? for a govt that was corrupt? The mothers who buried their sons who died during compulsory conscription?? The whites who died fighting apartheid...(yes you read it right, whites were NOT all for apartheid by a nazi type party) Time for africa to grow up and get the heck over the race card. The only ones who benefit are the politicians, ie the EMPLOYEES we all employ by paying taxes etc etc.

  • Sean Looney - 2011-08-13 19:05

desmond tutu just proved his own theory correct based on the comments im reading here. guess what my fellow white south africans? we DID benefit from apartheid, we DO still benefit from its legacy and just because the younger generation of black south africans fail to appreciate the value in working for your money doesn't mean that we should neglect that it was our forefathers who created the problems that the country faces today.

oh doublepost! perhaps with a proper education and a bit more understanding of having an arugment based on sound logic rather than emotion you'd see things a little differently. whites built south africa on the back of cheap black labour and continue to do so. the only jobs we seem to give to blacks are menial jobs like cleaning our houses and gardens in our relatively afflunent suburbs while sending them off with a R100 for a days work that many of us feel like we're above doing ourselves. you want me to prove to you that whites caused the problems? apartheid allowed us to create a hyper tiered system where blacks were not entitled to the same oppurtunities as whites. they were given sub-standard educational oppurtunities and forced to live in areas where there was little scope for agriculture. they were also living far away from the major ecomomic hubs of the country where, to prove my point, whites (9% of the population) were flourishing and earning salaries comparable to those of the western world. the country was clean, there was proper sanitation and companies and businesses were sound you say? im sure the people who were forced to live in townships and bantustans would argue that point. perhaps if you put yourself in their shoes south africa wouldn't have seemed like such an idyllic paradise?

      Sean Looney - 2011-08-13 19:46

if you feel like an economic slave you can simply leave. i can think of few countries where people live the lifestyles afforded to white south africans. it must be terrible to feel like a slave while u live in your high walled house with a garden and tiled floors and earn enough money to be able to afford to pay your taxes! is the present south africa perfect? no, its far from it. political guidance and leadership is lacking and and a larage percentage of the current generation of young blacks feel an entitlement to wealth whilst doing nothing to earn it. but to argue, as you have, that south africa is not in the state it is because of the contrived social engineering of apartheid than perhaps you're the ingrate moron?

      Doublepost - 2011-08-13 19:55

Sean, why not do as Tutu says and put your money where your mouth is. In fact, get all your Libbie tard friends together and pay your damn White guilt tax! The rest of us realised yonks ago that you cannot negotiate with blacks.

      BnQE - 2011-08-13 19:58

I hope you voted ANC ... I see you fit right in there ...

      Doublepost - 2011-08-13 20:11

And just to comment on Sean's blatant lies. Take a look at a South African rain fall map. The Bantu homelands were located almost on every location of high rainfall. The Whites took uninhabited lands in semi-arid areas and turned them, through frek hard work, to well run farms that fed the entire NATION and more, whilst the blacks turned the pristine green lands, given to them by Whites into cesspools. By over use of the land by cattle and by not respecting the top soil, blacks destroyed their lands. Not Whites. They are parasites and you, Sean, are a lying piece of donkey turd!

      Left Screwed - 2011-08-13 23:32

I have paid tax for a longer period to a black Government than I paid a White one. Admit I got more from the white Government than I have from the Black one. I pay five and a bit times more now under a black Government , than I paid to a White Government.......... My debts are paid. Therefore no cross, sorry you'll have to carry your cross alone.

      maristune - 2011-08-24 16:09

Sean I am at an age where I should be able to say that I am free of Apartheid guilt, but I do not. I was and will never deny that I was born with a Golden spoon in my mouth when it comes to lifestyle, but I have endured a fair amount of hardships myself from Apartheid, I understand your comment and frustration regarding most of the posts made but do not assume that we as a race are also not affected in a negative way from apartheid. Frankly one of my dreams was to become a doctor and help people but due to certain restrictions I was not accepted or found adequite to study the proffession even though I had worked my ass off to achieve marks that where more than adequite. Even still I shrugged my shoulders and just carried on. I got an Honours in ISSD and still found it remarkibly difficult to find work in this field seing people with just diplomas getting jobs that I was not able to because of BEE. Yes I am priviliged in some ways from Apartheid, but I am also held back because of my race because of it. And yes I just stated it 'I am struggling because I am white" as blacks, coloureds, indans etc etc. You make a good argument but a one sided one.

  • sipholess - 2011-08-13 19:06

Dont worry about the tax, they are coming for your business and house soon................and they will !!!!!

      sipholess - 2011-08-13 20:12

I'm not black,I despise the ANC. I've already sold my business and properties, IMO the ANC have'nt even started to plunder yet, watch this space. You obviously think differently. Just a bit of advise, when it starts don't call the police, one of them will probably be the next owner of your house. Good luck !!!!!

      int1m1d4t0r - 2011-08-16 13:18

and do what with it... think it is a magic machine that prints money... all these blacks are missing the point that we work hard for money

      int1m1d4t0r - 2011-08-16 13:20

also... pay what rates... who are just as naive,, the government needs the whites... when we all go so will all the tax.. and an economy with no one to run it :) it is a really funny situation... pity they were too proud to work with the whites to work out how it all works before taking charge of something that is way to complicated for people who only have std 7's and no matrics :)

  • semaj - 2011-08-13 19:09

And the Genie came down and asked the Bish, make a wish, and he said: Please lets get rid of the colonialists and their trappings and "poof", suddenly everything vanished, Transnet (no loss) Eskom (likewise) BMW and Merc (ohmigod) Boere (where are the mielies) Health Minister (what is health?) and there we were, back to square one.

  • hvklein - 2011-08-13 19:10

Maybe he said it forpractical reasons: Our Nobel Peace Prize Laureate may need a new car or cars for himself and his family! He may want to finance it through a new tax, benefiting all who keep close to the bandwagon to make sure they get on as soon as it is convenient. Not one of your best moments, Archbishop Emeritus! As thoughtless as Moolius Jalema's remarks about Botswana!

  • Rumbler - 2011-08-13 19:10

Tutu, you really are a dinosaur who is out of touch! Maybe you have reached your sell by date!!! You have lost my respect and once whole hearted support! Why do you want to penalise the whites when the ANC is floundering as a government? They are not delivering service or creating jobs! They are dragging the country down! I recon that the whites are paying well in excess of 60% of their earnings in duties, levies and taxes. Why do you want to tax them further? And above that, the smothering black majority government is imposing affirmative action on a minority :>). Can you believe it? Where else in the world will you see such a thing? Further whites are subjected to BEE, affirmative action and quotas in sport. Yet you want to tax them further! What a mess! What losers the country is producing.

  • Marius - 2011-08-13 19:15

Has he lost his mind- not all whites benifited in fact the blacks now get more from the gov then what we did.I did not get free med free school a free house... i had to work for every cent-- maybe his fellow blacks should have less corruption and then there will be more funds for housing --- you dont deserve your nobel you racist

  • LUFC - 2011-08-13 19:15

  • Jim - 2011-08-13 19:16

NumbNuts Zuma just gave 2BILLION rand to Swaziland! Loan? I don't think so. What collateral? Where was that money when Eskom needed bailing out to the tune of 1.6Billion? Enough Said.

      Ranger_Bob - 2011-08-13 19:18

And lets not forget the aid to Zim and every other country who wants financial aid. I love how they screw people in SA and "look after" other nations without looking at SA.

  • motsokwane - 2011-08-13 19:18

Do not play the race card again, when we touch the inequality issues you throw a race card. Why should it be like that? mmm? Are your ghosts haunting you?

      ex-pat - 2011-08-13 20:10

Motsokwane, tell me - what is not racist about Tutu saying that whites should pay an additional tax just because they're white, so presumably they benefited from apartheid? There are an awful lot of whites in SA who didn't, like the idiots who left the first world because they heard the weather's great in SA... hmmm, maybe they should pay for their stupidity. ;-)

  • Kisha - 2011-08-13 19:19

I wasn't even here when apartheid was around, having moved here after 94. So am I to be penalizied also?

      BnQE - 2011-08-13 19:59

      Yes ...

      ex-pat - 2011-08-13 20:11

Oh, yes. They don't care when you arrived; being white is a criminal offence in SA.

  • 106SA - 2011-08-13 19:20

"They" are all the same!!Mandela,Malema,Tutu..the list goes on!!They cannot stand the whites, and, will only be happy when the whites are all gone!Whites are doomed in SA,unless they fight for their space, rights and dignity!!

  • TrippiZee - 2011-08-13 19:20

I dont see Indians running around committing violent crimes because of apartheid, they picked themselves up and are benefiting from a democratic SA. No desmond, its because of black mentality..

  • LUFC - 2011-08-13 19:21

This country is just full of stupid people. They are genuinely stupid. Theyre always on about how BEE is to benefit black south africans for the past? Now what the hell happens in 10 years time when half the white population gets denied a job because of their skin colour. The hypocrisy is so evident that it just proves that we are being run by complete jokes. Its shocking. Absolutely shocking.

      realvictim - 2011-08-15 11:36

      and racists people too.

  • Mike - 2011-08-13 19:22

    22 you are getting senile.

  • brinjal - 2011-08-13 19:24

I'll pay wealth tax if they scrap BEE & AA, because whites are the ones being disadvantaged at the moment. Are the Indians & Coloureds going to pay a small percentage as they were more advantaged than the blacks

      Dewet - 2011-08-14 00:02

And are the Zulu's, Xhosa's, Basotho's gonna pay tax for stealing the land from the Khoi San? In fact they stole it, added nothing to it and now they want to blame another culture who at least built something onto it?! Am I finally crazy or is the majority in South Africa unable to see this basic logic ( and irony). We get blamed for lack of education, when in fact, there was no such thing as written word when we got here. Did we not in fact contribute an almost unmeasurable amount to the upliftment of Africans and South Africa? Did we not vote for change, unlike Bob, the King of Swazi land etc, etc. We could have gone on like Israel, in fact, a decent portion of our people were against the change to democracy. But the majority of our people was for it. Please stop making us sorry that we trusted you with this great responsibility, being totally outnumbered... a couple of generations after surviving concentration camps. You have no idea the courage that it took, but it seems more and more that a mistake might have been made, because you are forcing us to struggle because of the color of our skin. The irony is that you blame apartheid, but you are doing very much the same thing here. Remember, a deal was made. Please honour it as decent, self respecting human beings. We are supposed to be civilized now. If you do not let the race issue go, there will come a point when Afrikaners will again return to fighting for their survival. This will again be at the cost of others.

  • dikeledi motloutsi - 2011-08-13 19:26

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it” Dr Adrian Rogers, 1931

      HogHo - 2011-08-13 23:54

Excellent statement, just to add, in 1962 JFK said, "you can't make the poor rich by making the rich poor". Again, it takes brains to understand.

  • Nikki - 2011-08-13 19:27

It seems as if the ONLY thing that will satisfy the need...no the LUST of those who were oppressed is if the roles are reversed completely! I don't care what anyone says but those who were previously disadvantaged will NEVER BE SATISFIED until white people are in the same position they were for all those years. Better make peace with it white South Africans just as I have...thank GOD they can NEVER take away my intelligence and my innate drive to succeed...for that for all I care...they can DESTROY themselves and ALL go to hell! ...I am a proud white South African...I am 30 years old...Apartheid WAS NOT my fault nor did I do anything to perpetuate it yet my beloved country wants me to pay for it just because of my skin color!?? I CERTAINLY THINK NOT!! Yes I am white, yes I am sorry for what happened to you Mr Black/Ms Black but don't for one moment take for granted because I feel sorry for you I will allow you to walk all over me and do what you please FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN'T MY FAULT!!! ....yes I probably did benefit because my skin is white but we all get dealt the cards of life and we have to make the most of it NO MATTER WHAT CARDS YOU GET GIVEN! Sometimes I wish for just one brief moment a BLACK person could be in my shoes and honestly tell me what they would do? Yes I am white....yes I probably was born into privilege...so what do you want to do about it? Crucify/shoot me for it? If yes then may God have mercy on your rotten soul!

      Doublepost - 2011-08-14 12:28

Sean, if speaking the truth makes one "Racist" then racist one must be. I don't hate any other race, I merely want to be able to love my race and live amongst them and them only. Apparently, that's a CRIME!

      RFreeThinker - 2011-08-14 19:31

True. Except many libtards will say that speaking against whites is not racist, even when you differentiate purely along ethnic lines. The idea behind this thinking is that it's not acceptable for a white to discriminate but it is acceptable for non-whites to behave in anyway because these people (many liberals) believe that only whites are capable of changing their behaviour or following rational thinking. It's racism against non-whites that drives these apparently anti-white thoughts.

  • Justme - 2011-08-13 19:31

How do you "classify" a white person for tax purpose? Will SARS take applications for "Reclassification"? Where can I apply?

  • Rellebel - 2011-08-13 19:38
