Bloemfontein - The University of the Free State was on Tuesday compiling a charge sheet for internal disciplinary steps against two students over a racist video.

Spokesperson Anton Fisher said the Rector and Vice- Chancellor of UFS, Professor Frederick Fourie, was in the process of appointing a disciplinary committee.

"When this charge sheet is finalised, it will be made available to the students' legal representative."

Fisher said when the charge sheet was in the hands of the representative, a date for the internal disciplinary hearing would be arranged.

Fisher said the university's legal representatives on Monday informed the students' legal team that they were in the process of compiling the charge sheet.

Fisher said this was done in writing and no meeting took place between the lawyers of the two parties.

The video, which caused an outcry, features black university employees on their knees eating food which had purportedly been urinated on by a white student.

The short film depicts a mock initiation of five black staff members into hostel activities and refers openly to the university's diversity policy for campus residences announced in 2007.
