Zille must not be a cry baby - Nzimande

2013-01-12 14:32

Durban - Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille must not act like a "cry baby" about the farmworkers strike in De Doorns, Western Cape, SA Communist Party general-secretary Blade Nzimande said on Saturday.

"I have a message for Helen Zille. Do not be like a cry-baby asking national government to intervene," he told several thousand ANC members gathered at Kings Park stadium in Durban for the African National Congress's 101st anniversary celebrations.

"Go and tell the bosses to negotiate with farmworkers and give [the farmworkers] decent wages."

The strike by seasonal workers to have their R69 daily wage increased to R150 - which began on 27 August last year, and was called off on 4 December - resumed on Wednesday.

Zille is also the premier of the Western Cape.

Nzimande said the party must celebrate its achievements instead of listening to "doom-sayers".

He said people who said that life was better under apartheid, did not know what they were talking about because they never grew up in mud houses without electricity.

"The rich and the media, perpetuated that idea," he said.

Oh YOU absolute IDIOT Nzimande!! Whats the bet you caused the chaos! Grow up!!!!!!

      debduplessis - 2013-01-12 19:00

Nzimande the basic salary/wage is set by the ruling party therefore your fool, take your argument to the ANC and not the leading opposition party!

      wwrer.ww - 2013-01-12 20:21

No business on earth can afford to give its staff a 60% salary increase. No business. They don't care about the unemployed. 10 kids per family. A social grant for everyone. So a living wage is one where 10 kids can be supported. I think Communist China has the right idea: one child for each family. What do you say comrade Blade?

SAPA and NEWS24! Again taking comments out of context and in the process this report becomes: rubbish and sensation NOT news!

How can it be out of context when we see and hear Nzimande on television? Are you after Mac's job, sam.makua.10?

Blade your IQ is about the same as your shoe size. How can adult politicians call one another cry babies? Job like these are for adults not 5 year olds!

      Erna - 2013-01-12 19:49

You must know that you can't use use big words when addressing the majority. This is the level they understand.

      willie.botha.9480 - 2013-01-12 20:39

Aren't you overestimating his IQ there. :-)

      tersia.louw.12 - 2013-01-12 21:15

In a country where adults refer to others as "flea-infested" and tell people to shut up, are you really surprised, Larry?

  • lacrimose.wolf - 2013-01-12 19:12

Yes Blade because of course the SACP, COSATU and the Alliance have failed to persuade the farmers to pay more, so now you must send a white woman to do what you can't. You guys set the minimum wage and removed all farming subsidies. Don't be such 'fraidy cat, cowardy custards now that the genie's out of the bottle

      sthembiso.jali.50 - 2013-01-12 20:14

that white women is suppose to be a leader, or perhapse a failing leader.

      attie.stone.3 - 2013-01-12 20:37

Sam you sound incredibly dumb. Do you think Zille sets or pays the farm workers wages....She has nothing to do with it. Secondly What has she failed.....or does being classed by world standards as doing a good job running her province mean she's failed. Incredibly dumb is more than you deserve

  • true.blue.7127 - 2013-01-12 19:12

National government is responsible for labour and COSATU negotiated the present wage system. The present violent protests are not of the farmers' making nor that of the DA governed Western Cape. It's all about pointing fingers in the wrong direction and Nzimande is very good at doing that. And as SA slides further into a state of anarchy under the Tripartite Alliance we can expect more Marikanas and De Doorns.

  • joe.smit.549 - 2013-01-12 19:15

Blade. You each take a turn, and stand up and convince each other, you have done something right. Now try and do something right, that convinces the real world.....

  • Watkykj - 2013-01-12 19:46

Typical comment of an uneducated moron. I think u need an IQ of -50 to pull that insult off!

      linds.ronhouse - 2013-01-12 20:14

Dr Nzimande holds a PhD degree from the former University of Natal. Please don't make uninformed comments.

      linds.ronhouse - 2013-01-12 20:18

And to follow your same logic, you probably need an even lower IQ to pull that "uneducated moron" insult off. A lot of people in the forum just write without thinking.

      christoffvstaden - 2013-01-12 20:44

@linds - He holds a degree? Perhaps, but intelligence & common sense is not something you can get a degree in, so I absolutely agree with WATKYKJ that he is an uneducated moron, which BTW is not an insult but been proven by the nonsense he utters.

      linds.ronhouse - 2013-01-12 21:40

@Christoff, you sound like a reasonably guy but I'm surprised that you think "cry baby" is an insult but "uneducated moron" is not. You have every right to disagree with Nzimane or anyone else. But don't try to insult and discredit the person you don't agree with. That's usually a technique used by less intelligent people when arguing or debating.

Does blade realise that farming is not a profitable industry and as such requires government aid. You do realise that much of the rest of the world subsideses their farmers to the tune of billions of euros because they recognise you cannot otherwise make a living. Our inglorious morons seem oblivious to this fact i guess if you eat imported caviar you dont care

Once all the insults are finished and all the hate speeches are done, we should not loose focus on the issue at hand and start thinking, Helen is a provincial leader and a premier in the province, if we truly are patriotic south africans, we should all be asking why there is no leadership and statements from the premier except for playing the blame game: I think the premier can do more than that, she should be at the forefront of negotiations and in finding a solution: The silence is uncharacteristic of her.

      CapeChappy - 2013-01-12 20:05

So who in the ANC took responsibility for the dozens of strikes in their municipalities over the past year? And Marikana?

      manqoba.zulu.54 - 2013-01-12 20:11

I will only debate with you once you stop being angry and use your heart, but have calm down and start asking decent question cos you can not tell me that cos the wrong have been done somewhere else that it must be repeated, that's stupid

@attie.stone: you spelled my name incorrectly, to answer you, they do not get involved on a normal situation, but when things are abnormal it is expected that the leadership get all parties around the table without taking any sides to resolve the situation, you see, I respect you, I won't judge your intelligence or call you names, instead I will engage you with respect as I don't know you: don't you love the different types of upbringing people of SA have, a truly rainbow nation:

  • Erna - 2013-01-12 20:02

I really wish people would not give the likes of wonderboy and his ilk the satisfaction of responding to their drivel. Instead of offering solutions they spew racial hatred. The same goes for some of the white commentators.

How exactly??? Do you know what the common agricultural policy is? No thoought not come back when you understand

  • dewaldmontgomery - 2013-01-12 20:04

How about this: (1) The ANC set the minimum wages. The ANC controls parliament who passed the relevant laws. The farmers OBEY the law the ANC passed. Now you want to punish THEM? (2) Those who cry about their wages can go find other jobs. Moron mentality.

  • peter.jordaan.5 - 2013-01-12 20:05

Well lets wait until it spreads all over the country then we widiot. ill see what happens. The ANC has already caused another down grade. But however our esteemed idiot junk status is not far away based on your wonderful policies of trying to destabilize the western cape. The only province that works and you try to pull it down to the level of the rest. Very constructive Blade. When the whole country is down the tubes and you are thrown out what then?

  • Siphiwo Khuzwayo - 2013-01-12 20:32

That is not on from a senior leader like Blade. This is a remark, not fitting really to the situation the farmer-workers face. Why attack the Premier of W/Cape?. She is spot on when she asks for the intervention of the national order. The Labour Minister, Oliphant, and the other stake holders, are the ones to settle the situation in W/Cape. THis is a national issue not a provincial issue where wages/ negotiations are handled. Mr Blade, not matter how you feel about Zille, try as a leader to show maturity over anger and or. We only ask the relevance Mr Blade.

  • matshane.seleko - 2013-01-12 20:33

Not that I agree with emmm.....well,Blade,because he is the champion of the poor, driving a million German car. So,how come farming is not a profitable business when farmers own expesive mercedece benzes and BMWs,live in big farmhouses surrounded by lavish gardens-and we know who is toiling to keep them(the gardens) manicured and beautiful-when they are not making any profits? There is an answer to this question.Well,in case you are wondering what the answer is,ok,I'll tell you:Greed, greed, greed and more greed.Even those who claim to be champions of the poor, the greed bug has bitten them, and you and me know them by the dozens.
