Zuma: 2012 eventful, successful, challenging

2012-12-31 10:48

Johannesburg - The National Development Plan, rhinos, service delivery, soccer, Brics, Marikana and Mandela are on President Jacob Zuma's mind as 2012 draws to a close on Monday.

In his New Year's message the president said the NDP would guide the country to prosperity.

By 2030 the NDP would create a society where people had adequate access to water, electricity, health care, education, safety, and jobs.

The year had been "eventful, successful and also very challenging".

He noted that in the short term, South Africa had to become a country where problems could be anticipated and resolved peacefully without an outbreak of violence, as had happened in Marikana. Police shot dead 34 striking miners on August 16 during a clash at the Lonmin platinum mine.

South Africans needed a society free from abuse and violence, as well as one where animals, especially rhinos, were safe from poachers.

Zuma expressed gratitude to everyone who had prayed for and supported former president Nelson Mandela while he was in hospital.

"We should continue to keep the Mandela family in our thoughts and prayers until Tata has fully recovered."

He said South Africa's hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations would make January an exciting month.

In March the country would host the Brics group of nations - Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, in Durban.

I like the president's positive attitute. It is a good start for 2013!

      lownabester - 2012-12-31 11:01

I dont believe a thing he says, He messed up 2012, I am not excpeting any better from him.

      ancbasher - 2012-12-31 11:11

Oom Jacob, a plan is just that - scribblings on a piece of paper. No plan will ever "guide" a country to prosperity. You need LEADERSHIP to make it happen. And that, Oom Jacob, is where the problem comes in. No Leadership - No Prosperity

      colin.dovey - 2012-12-31 11:13

He says: "By 2030 the NDP would create a society where people had adequate access to water, electricity, health care, education, safety, and jobs." What it means is that we have all got to wait for ANOTHER 18 years of ANC ineptitude and corruption.....so who are the NDP anyway? I suggest that in his case it stands for "NO DEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE."

      mathata.fela.7 - 2012-12-31 11:15

Yes Gert, for him personally it was....for the rest of us he was just a common thief.

      debduplessis - 2012-12-31 11:42

Personally it was very successful for Mr Corruption .... he stole millions from us all!

      keithpatkell - 2012-12-31 12:27

AMA-ZING! The zoomer man has eventually babbled forth something I AGREE with! Hell yes he is so right when he states that by 2030 (I don’t think he'll be blighting us anymore by then) the NDP, quote: " would create a society where people had adequate access to water, electricity, health care, education, safety, and jobs." YES! YES! By then, probably much sooner actually, the NDP or New DEMOCRATIC Party, or DA as we know it WILL DEFINITELY have rescued South Africa from the abhorrent greedy clutches of the cANCer party and will have created a better life for all! You see…the scales are beginning to fall from even one such as the showerman’s blinded eyes…the writing is on the wall…Viva New Democratic Party Viva!

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-31 12:42

It takes more than just a positive attitude to run a country Gert. If you are trying to pilot a plane, and you have no clue what you are doing it's gonna crash, no matter how positive your attitude. You have somebody with a positive attitude on the one hand and then also a thief on the other hand. Sorry dude it just aren't going to work. Somebody talking about education and growing the economy on the one hand, and then decolonising of minds on the other and and critising clever blacks for being clever. Nope sorry 2013 is going to be a disaster again. Mark my words

      BulletProof. - 2012-12-31 13:00

Very Successful year building Nklanda, save the Rhinos and killing the dogs.Very much success in dividing and polaryzing the country.

Whaaaaaaat..??? Did you actually listen to what he had to say - this primitive goon had to start his speech with his obligatory WHITE HATE rhetoric. As people rose against PW's National Party, it is time to rise against this primitive oppressor - NOW, NOT LATER..!!!

      ronald.stilianou - 2012-12-31 22:31

I'm glad Gert is not in the running or president , if that is what he took from that clown's speech.

      asdhasgd - 2013-01-01 15:31

Yea I mean apart from the Marikan Massacre, the nationwide strikes, the textbook saga, the corruption and mis-management scandles, the spy tapes gone missing...it was a good year. for them.

  • WILDSBOK - 2012-12-31 11:02

Successful in filling your own pocket Jacob? Eventful dodging your own bullets? And more hot air.... for once Jacob - how about DO what you say all the time... and congratulations onto the promised job creation; it really takes a spin doctor to celebrate thousand of job losses and call it "job creation".

  • BrandonFaber - 2012-12-31 11:09

You, sir, have the mental ability of a doorstop. Feeble minded and weak of character. 2013 is gonna be a tough year for you ... Everyone is tired of your stupidity and thoroughly corrupt administration. Jackass.

      Adeeb Saban - 2012-12-31 12:02

@SS. The slander and anti-Zuma brigade aside, can't u see the widespread corruption/looting of state coffers happening under our very noses while our countrymen wallow away in poverty. How can u accept Nkandlagate???? How does these massive BEE contracts that enrich a few benefit our starving/shack dwelling countrymen??? How can u condone this continuing gravy train???? I don't condone people who use this forum to spew racist vitriolic bile, but I do believe it is our duty as South Africans to speak out against corruption and cronyism. It is our duty to hold the government of the day accountable!!

  • theMichaelHawthorne - 2012-12-31 11:14

zuma did nothing in 2012 except destabilizing the country and stealing R200 000 000 for private use. He sang kill the boer early februrary and in december he again became racist by saying whites care more for animals than other human biengs... to top off all his failures he wants to spend hundreds of thousands of tax payer money on a satanic ritual to clense the country. the title should read Zuma: 2012, FAILURE

  • tiaan.truter - 2012-12-31 11:14

So a New Year approaches us where Zuma and hes idiot minions can screw up our beautiful country even more, new challenges and achievements awaiting to be unlocked by Zuma

      await*

  • khumo.lebone - 2012-12-31 11:14

Yes, 2012 was eventful for Zuma in robbing the taxpayer out of R247 million and successful in that he managed to evade the lame authorities despite evidence of the loot. Also succesful was he in convincing those who wipe their noses with their tongues in awarding his looting with a second term. He certainly has a lot to smile about.

  • helen.watermelon.16 - 2012-12-31 11:14

Yes very successful, 63o or so dead rhinos, abused Army horses gone to the SPCA, 6 dead RTI applicants, 34 dead miners,..............

  • moses.m.masilela - 2012-12-31 11:16

Let's all unite with respect for the 2013 to be the most successful year in the entire history, respect president Zuma for he holds the power to make South Africa to become a better country!

      helen.watermelon.16 - 2012-12-31 11:36

I dont respect someone who has 6 wives, 23 children, other girlfriends, 240 million rand stolen for his house, backward ways of thinking, laughs at "clever" blacks, advises black people not to walk their dogs or take them to the vet, has bull slaughtering ceremonies with bare hands,....must I go on or do you get the picture

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-12-31 12:00

MosesMasilela, the future of the country is not a joke. With Zuma at the helm that is exactly what it is.

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-31 12:49

He also holds the power to ruin it, which he has already started doing. Respect is earned. I have more respect for my dog's turd than I have for zipper

Moses - he may have the power but not the brains.

      asdhasgd - 2013-01-01 15:32

      raymond.buis.3 - 2012-12-31 11:42

You might not be an idiot but you are defiantly lacking in the spelling and grammar department. Beyond that why does it always have to be about race. Can you honestly say this year was was a success? Just look at what happened this year, failure by the limpopo government to supply textbooks, some of the most violent strikes in the history of the country and let's not forget the lease scandals revolving around the police, oh and the zuma compound. How can you buy the .BS he is selling.

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-12-31 12:04

Morrisn2, If you want us to think differently stop action like idiots. How exactly do you want to get rid of us?. Night of the long knives? Can your brothers stay sober long enough?

      GRAMMAR!!!

      Ninjinvee - 2013-01-01 13:33

@morrisn2: It is sad to see that you think in such a tunnelled way. Apartheid is over, son. Stop using Apartheid as an excuse for your absolute laziness to rise and improve your own way of life. The entire continent of Africa is slowly falling, sadly. And please, for your own sake, stop playing the race card. For the record, although I despised Apartheid, it is those same white people who built the country. So without those white people, this land would unfortunately have been further behind than currently. The very fact that you have the idea that white people think Africans are idiots means that you, yourself, think of yourself as an idiot, otherwise why let it bother you?? Finally, this country will never become a better place if people like you keep the same mindset. You are a sad and highly misinformed individual who bases his judgement solely on skin colour. #Numbskull.

      asdhasgd - 2013-01-01 15:35

"Lets wrk 2gethr, giv support wher we can so our country can become a better place!" Very hypocritcal just stating you wanna get rid of all Europeans. idiot.

The only thing that people see with Zuma, is that any uneducated idiot can become a leader. The leaders in SA pay themselves more than most modern countries including USA – UK and all of Europe. They have wasted enough money to build every family in South Africa a modern home with water, sewage and electricity. THAT IS A FACT. So remember all of this next time you vote.

      paul.chick.501 - 2012-12-31 13:05

So Mbuso you think that zuma is a great leader and is not corrupt ??????? Any race, colour or breed will give respect where respect is due...it is not just whites Give us whites a good black leader and you will be surprised at the differant responce. All we want is good govonance and leadership regardless of race

      Erna - 2012-12-31 13:49

Mbuso how right you are; I do not trust or believe an African can be a great leader anymore. Zuma and his cronies have shown us each and every day how corrupt and uneducated and racist they are. And seeing people like yourselves even supporting them shows what racist slaves of the ANC Black South Africans have become. Have some Espresso and wake up - reality is different to fiction!

George listen to me carefully now.The former oppressor were a handful who had power over voters, just like today. The former oppressor could still be in power if it wernt for people who wanted the oppressed to be uplifted.
