Zuma supporters already celebrating

2012-12-17 16:55

Mangaung - The voting for the ANC's top six posts has not yet started but supporters of President Jacob Zuma’s bid for a second term are already celebrating.

Delegates from Nelson Mandela Bay were partying on the road side, glasses in hand, during the break that followed the nominations process at the party’s Mangaung conference in Bloemfontein this afternoon.

Fold-up chairs and cooler boxes were arranged around their vehicles while they danced and sang songs praising Zuma.

From their perspective, the top six election is a done deal.

"Kgalema is saying he won’t serve under Zuma,’’ said one delegate from the Raymond Mhlaba branch.

"That’s why he withdrew as deputy. Zuma will win hands down. Tokyo [Sexwale] and [Mathews] Phosa have split their vote by both standing. Cyril [Ramaphosa] will take it easily.’

"Jessie [Duarte] is in as deputy already. Mbaks [Fikile Mbalula] should have withdrawn. Gwede [Mantashe] is going to embarrass him.

"The same with Thandi [Modise] and [Paul] Mashatile. We are going to take all top six posts. It's clear," he said.

      Desilusionada - 2012-12-17 19:04

Whatever the outcome, the sad bit of it all is that the whole thing, (as usual), is turning into a royal P!$$up. Paid somehow by the taxpayer. While they are sipping the champagne through their lips on behalf of the unwashed hordes gratefully hoping for a crust as a F()kcing handout. While some children are begging on the streets. And going hungry. While they sleep soundly in the arms of Bacchus.....

  • thulani.zondi.7 - 2012-12-17 19:17

I am perturbed and disturbed by this appalling behavior by Zuma supporters. They are already talking about us and them. So if you are not in favour of Zuma camp you are viewed as an enemy. What happen to a democratic process? Zuma can win ANC election but he will have a major challenge to attract the general public to vote for him. The challenge is not anc election but the 2014 general election. This will be caused by the polarization perpetuated by Zuma supporters. I have no doubt that there will be purging of all those who challenged him. They are already talking about cabinet reshuffling after conference. I am very much disappointed.

      MagdaKus - 2012-12-18 03:43

      thando.ramncwana - 2012-12-17 20:36

Thats such a stupid thing to do if you are an ANC member......Zuma will come and go, but the ANC remains.......usisibanxa nyani!

      thembinkosi.jozie - 2012-12-17 22:27

Thando by the time Zuma leaves office there will be no country or ANC left. We voting DA to save SA from total destruction by Zuma Do u really think Zuma will leave office to face 783 charges?

      MagdaKus - 2012-12-18 03:48

Thando- any party is its people- and the people at the top determine its course. How much of what you admire about the movement has remained? Is it not a totally different animal now? If the only thing that ties it to what you admire is history, you are only talking sentimentality, not fact.

Good ANC behaviour. Anything to get drunk and disorderly at the side of the road. God knows but these are our elected leaders. And as for the election; voting after midnight, no wonder we end up with the creatures of the night that are elected. Seriously, is this the best this country can do?

You are right Thando, the ANC remains a bunch of losers, corrupt to the bone and greedy. You should be proud.

  • piero.mendace.5 - 2012-12-18 07:44

Thabang, unfortunately you are right, he is close to the masses because he has the same thought processes. Its really a shame that the masses don't know enough to see through the fool for what he is - a clown and a crook!

  • piero.mendace.5 - 2012-12-18 07:46

Lead what... Are you blind our really that ignorant, he can't even spell lead, the only thing he can lead are masses who don't understand how he and this team of thugs have destroyed this country.
