Johannesburg – Those who have breached the core values of
the ANC will be brought to book, ANC Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised.
Speaking at the ANC summit for academic and professionals at
the Sandton Convention Centre on Wednesday, Ramaphosa said the ANC had been
tainted by scandal after scandal.
“Yes you are right. We have been moving from scandal to
scandal. We are a living organisation and it's an organisation that is made up
of human beings. But what is important is that we make sure that members adhere
to the core values of the ANC,” he said.

Warning transgressors, Rapamaphosa said for those in breach
of those core ANC values, there must be consequences and accountability.
When the audience asked when transgressors would be held
accountable, Ramaphosa said: “I can hear in unison you are all saying when, and
that moment is now. It is going to happen. Yes, we are going to make sure that
those who breach the rules of the ANC - the basic document which is the
constitution - will be brought to book.”
His statement comes after questions arose about President
Jacob Zuma's close relationship with the Gupta family last week. The wealthy
family had allegedly exercised undue influence by offering senior ANC members
Cabinet posts.
Ramaphosa told attendees the ANC had set up a structure that
was going to tackle the issue of state capture.
