There's no 'beef' between Malema and Mbalula - EFF

2016-02-17 11:11

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi insists there is nothing secret in what Julius Malema said about Fikile Mbalula during the 2016 SONA Debate. Malema mentioned Mbalula a few times, saying he called Malema "from the mountain" and crying after being announced as Minister of Sport and Recreation. Ndlozi also has harsh words on members of the majority party, the ANC. "Where are the brave voices?" he asks.WATCH

Cape Town - Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula on Thursday ducked out of answering any questions on EFF leader Julius Malema's claim that he was appointed by the Gupta family.

"We are not governed by the Guptas, we are not run by the Guptas, we are here for sport," he said angrily after reading out a statement demanding that FIFA withdraw its claims that South Africans were involved in a massive bribery scandal.

"If you want to ask me about the Guptas, ask me out of this press conference," he said to the journalist who asked for comment on the Twitter war between himself and Malema.

He said he owed nobody an explanation and the onus was on the people making the claims to prove them.

"I am not going to join the chorus when I don't know who is the conductor," he said.

Another journalist said the question was valid, but he barked: "I am Fikile Mbalula, the Minister of the ANC, appointed by [President] Jacob Zuma, seconded by the African National Congress."
