Kroos confirms Madrid move

Cape Town - Bayern Munich midfielder and Soccer World Cup star Toni Kroos confirmed after Sunday's final that he is set to join Champions League winners Real Madrid.

Kroos, a key figure in the German midfield throughout the 2014 SWC, was unhappy with his status in the Bayern Munich side and failed to negotiate a deal that would keep him in Munich.

Teamtalk.com are reporting that Kroos will make his move this summer for a fee in the region of €25 million.

The German star midfielder, who finished the tournament as the leading creator with four assists, also made the most number of completed passes at the World Cup with 522.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will have one of the world's leading talents at his disposal after the player confirmed his future after the match.

Kroos will join teammate Sami Khedira and Luka Modric in midfield for Madrid as they look to wrestle back the La Liga title from neighbours Atletico Madrid.

“We’ve finished the World Cup in the best way possible. Now I’m going to Madrid, so that’s two dreams achieved," Kroos told the Ggerman press contingent.

Kroos almost handed the lead to Argentina early into the first half when he's headed clearance sent Gonzalo Higuian through on goal.

The Argentine foward spared Kroos' blushes by squandering arguably the best chance of the game.

Kroos made 176 appearances in four seasons for the German champions.
