I am not concerned about being fired - Komphela

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela claims he is not feeling any pressure to produce immediate results when the new season kicks off.

After ending his first campaign at Naturena without any silverware, Komphela has been given the grace of assembling his own technical team and build his own squad of players - before being judged on his achievements with the club.

In a shock move, former Ghana international John Paintsil was announced as his new assistant while eight new players were also unveiled in a press conference on Monday morning.

When asked about whether he is worried about his future at Amakhosi, Komphela responded with, "Not at all."

"You cannot deny Ferrari to give you their best car because you are scared that you might lose a race. It would be illogical. This game is for the brave and in this game you have to be selfless. I am not concerned about being fired. That's it," as quoted by the Soweto Live.

"I am an extreme optimist in everything that I do. We are excited to work with new people, both in the playing and coaching staff. We are looking to add value to this club, so that we produce results forever and forever."

Chiefs chairman Bobby Motaung revealed that there will be more activity in the transfer market to back Komphela ahead of the new campaign and beyond.

"Steve was not set up for failure. He came in to build. We looked at a long-term relationship and also the immediate challenges that we had at the time he came in," Motaung said.

"Football is a journey and last season was a journey of lessons for us."
