Injury and illness hitting Sundowns hard, reveals Pitso

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says Anthony Laffor's season could be over whereas Jeremy Brockie is out injured while Ricardo Nascimento and Aubrey Ngoma are sick.

Sundowns are preparing to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Saturday in a CAF Champions League quarterfinal however it appears the side's hectic schedule in all competitions is taking a toll.

Mosimane revealed that Laffor could be out for the season with a knee injury which requires surgery. In addition, Brockie is not available due to a groin problem he is struggling with.

Meanwhile, Nascimento and Ngoma are both battling with a bout of tonsillitis. With that said, better news for the Brazilians is that forward Phakamani Mahlambi has returned to training following injury.

Downs' coach told reporters: "Laffor is going for surgery, under the knife. It's unbelievable. I don't know, probably [his season is over].

"Jeremy] Brockie's got a groin, but fortunately Phakamani has started training today. He has not been training since after the under23s. Nascimento has got tonsils, Aubrey has got tonsils.

"It's not nice [for Laffor], because he always comes up and saves us. He's got that goal that we all know about. It's not easy, that knee has been troubling him.

'All the time it gets swollen. We want him to play, but he has to manage it. He has to be smart, he is not young anymore."
