Komphela: Chiefs must maintain momentum

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is determined to maintain the team's current momentum as they push for the Premiership title this season.

After a slow start to their campaign, the Amakhosi have now claimed three consecutive wins in the league, after a 3-1 victory over Free State Stars on Tuesday.

Komphela's charges have moved up to fourth position in the standings, only one point behind leaders SuperSport United, who have a game in hand, and second-placed Bidvest Wits, who still have two games to catch up.

"You feel the mood is better and our focus is different. We want to do better," said Komphela as quoted by SowetanLIVE.

"We can never reach a comfort zone because the minute you become comfortable, you become complacent and mediocre,"

"So we have to remain focused. What's important is to stay with the pack [at the top]. You can't afford to drop points at this stage.

"We are looking for consistent performances."

Chiefs will face Maritzburg United away from home in their next league installment on Saturday while Stars take on SuperSport United at home next week Wednesday.

Kick off is at 20:15.
