Rabada hoping to be fit for Sri Lanka series

Cape Town - Proteas paceman Kagiso Rabada is hopeful of being fit to face Sri Lanka in South Africa's upcoming tour to the sub-continent next month.

Rabada is currently sidelined with a lower back stress reaction, which he suffered during the fourth Test against Australia at the Wanderers.

The fast bowler was ruled out for three months in early April, which made him unavailable for the Delhi Daredevils in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a Cricket South Africa statement, Rabada revealed that his rehabilitation is going well.

"I've been taking it one week at a time," said Rabada.

"When I got injured there was a plan for three months that I should be ready for Sri Lanka, so let's see if the plan is going to go accordingly.

"At the moment it's all good. So, we're waiting until July."

On Saturday, the 23-year-old won six awards including the South African Cricketer of the Year at the CSA Awards in Sandton.

The Proteas play two Tests, five ODIs and a solitary T20I against Sri Lanka in July.
