The Nugent Commission of Inquiry into SARS resumed on Monday, despite a brewing Constitutional Court bid by suspended tax boss Tom Moyane to have it halted.
Suspended SARS boss Tom Moyane met with consultancy Bain & Company for an opinion on the tax service long before he was appointed commissioner.
From executive bonuses to payments of legal fees for matters that had nothing to do with SARS, the man who has been described as Tom Moyane’s enforcer on Thursday failed to answer questions about his role in some of the transactions he signed off.
Questions were raised over procurement process regarding Bain &
Company's R164m contract with SARS, as the consulting company began presenting evidence to the Nugent Commission of Inquiry.
