Zimbabwe reintroduced the Zimbabwean dollar as legal currency in June.
The decision by the Zimbabwean government to abolish the use of foreign currency for local transactions is welcome, but could have been implemented better, say analysts and various sectors of the business community.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa said it had always been clear that for the country's economy to take off, "we need our own currency".
Foreign currencies are no longer acceptable as legal tender in Zimbabwe, with Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube saying Monday that the Zimbabwe dollar is now the only acceptable medium of exchange for local transactions.
