Providence - Look up a female scientist or technologist on Wikipedia, and you might not find what you're looking for.

Many don't have detailed pages or any page at all on the free online encyclopedia that is created by contributors, the vast majority of them men.

It's a symptom of a larger problem for women in science, technology and mathematics, who don't always get the recognition they deserve.

A woman has not been awarded a science Nobel Prize since 2009.

A Brown University biology professor and an alumna held a Wikipedia "edit-a-thon" this week to help chip away at the problem.

They gathered dozens of students and faculty to train them on how to add and edit pages and suggested entries for female scientists, including several who have won prestigious prizes.
