Cape Town - Winter is fast approaching, and we simply cannot think of a better way to keep warm than by drinking wine, and eating good food!
Which is exactly what these events are about - good food and wine, guaranteed to make your winter that much warmer. Who needs the sun?

So have a look at some really cool wine festivals taking place in SA from late May to mid June. Cheers!

•    Gugulethu Wine Festival

Date: 23 - 24  May 2014
Venue: Gugulethu Square Mall, Cape Town
Ticket pricing: R100
Good to know: Now in its fourth year, this Wine festival is set to reach new heights. Set on a rooftop, expect entertainment, good wine, good music, and good company. There will be food stalls from popular Mzoli’s kitchen, a cash bar and live music.

•    Good Food & Wine Show

Date: 29 May – 1 June
Venue: Cape Town International Convention Centre
Thursday-Saturday: 10:00am-21:00
Sunday: 10:00am- 18:00
Ticket pricing
Adults: R125 per adult
Children: R50 per child under 12
Children under 3 years old are free.
VIP Experience tickets: Includes entry to the Good Food & Wine Show at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and entry to the Celebrity Chefs Theatre ticket with VIP preferential seats for your requested Chef.

Good to know:  Now in its sixth year, this family festival is set to continue to promote an ethos of good living
Emphasis is also added to tasting South Africa's best fortified and red wines in a great outdoor setting. To this end, more than 50 producers will present in excess of 140 products for your enjoyment.
Food and Refreshments will be available at the venue.
Delicious hot foods (curry and rice, meat & vegetarian soups, etc) are sold to raise funds for the Woodland school.

•    Groves and Vineyards Festival

2014. Now in its 5th year, the Groves & Vineyards Festival has become an eagerly anticipated day out for the whole family. As in previous years, visitors will be spoilt for choice with a fantastic selection of fine wines and olives as well as artisanal whole-foods and irresistible sweet temptations from handmade chocolates to freshly baked patisserie.
The festival is primarily focused around fine wines and olives with over 12 wineries and 25 Olive and food exhibitors, as well 10 organic farmers, BOS tea, a stylish single malt whisky lounge and a selection of craft beer producers that collectively promises a wonderful weekend of great sampling, shopping and utter enjoyment for everyone.

Good to know: Taste South Africa’s top wines as judged at this year’s Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, in an informal showcase environment. Wines on show are all silver, gold or trophy medal winning wines from the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2014. Details of all award winners and the Most Successful Producer will be available on www.trophywineshow.co.za from 28 May. Trophy winners include Discovery of the Show (Best Value). Refreshments are available at the public tasting. •    Wacky Wine Weekend

Good to know: The Wacky Wine Weekend has been extended from the conventional weekend experience to include four festive days, with each day boasting its unique signature wine theme, to cater for all palates.
The Wacky Wine Weekend will embrace the usual line-up of fun-filled activities, for example: 'meet-the-winemaker' tastings, vineyard tractor trips, river cruises, sunset game drives, cheese- and olive tastings, a farmers' market, street theatre, live music, a fireworks display, the half-marathon and mountain bike challenge. New attractions comprise: a jewellery market, brandy tours and tastings, a sushi- and wok bar and a simulated rodeo bull.

    2014 Absa Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival

Date:  14 – 15 June 2014
Venue: Calitzdorp Railway Station, Klein Karroo, Western Cape

Good to know: Following the outstanding success of the 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festivals, the 2014 festival will again be centred at the historic Calitzdorp Railway Station, well-complimented by a full and fabulous programme of events at the various wine cellars and village venues.
We will retain some of the popular premier events from our previous festivals but will also include some new and exciting events. 
Not only will all the local port and wines be available for tasting, there will be a "Gourmet Street Market" offering wonderful food and delicatessen products.  A Safari Dinner as well as two Secret Dinners have been included in a refreshed programme.
We have, as in previous years, also ensured there is a varied selection of top quality lifestyle and food stalls.
