SA Jewish Museum exhibits holocaust survivor’s art

Cape town - The South African Jewish museum in Cape Town is hosting an exhibition of artwork by world renowned Jewish artist and Holocaust survivor, Samuel Bak, until 28 February 2014.

Bak’s artwork reflects his childhood experiences during the war, as well as his influences such as the poets Avrom Sutzkever and Szmerke Kaczerginski, who invited Bak to participate in an art exhibition organized in the Ghetto of Vilna, when he was nine.

Bak uses visual metaphors, allegories and symbols to highlights universal problems in society such as racism, intolerance, discrimination and genocide.
