The Gary Player Invitational

The Gary Player Invitational (GPI), South Africa’s premier charity sporting event having raised over R25 million for local charities in the past 10 years, takes place at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort in KwaZulu-Natal from Thursday 22 November to Sunday 25 November.

The GPI features professional golfers teamed with business people and a celebrities including Jack Wagner of the Bold & Beautiful fame, Westlife’s Brian McFadden, supermodel actress Angie Everhart, Liverpool football legend Kenny Dalglish and Arsenal football legend Sir Ian Wright.

The Player Foundation, in conjunction with presenting sponsor Coca-Cola South Africa, has nominated Wildlands Conservation Trust as a beneficiary to support its work in recycling plastic and encouraging tree growing through community-based waste-preneurs and tree-preneurs. The GPI has also linked with Wings and Wishes, a charity started in 2006 by staff at the Coca-Cola Sabco bottling company in Port Elizabeth to collect air-miles to transport critically ill children to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town.

All funds raised are to be shared equally between the charities.
The tournament is open to the public on Saturday November 24 and Sunday November 25. Tickets are R75 a day and available from Computicket.
