Air Botswana to service Lanseria

2012-10-23 14:59
Gabornone - 2012. Flag carrier Air Botswana has announced a four-weekly frequencies between Lanseria International airport and Gaborone from November 2012. The airline will operate its 47 seat capacity ATR 42-500’s on the route.

Lanseria International Airport has added an international carrier which augers well for passengers with a requirement for more destinations.
“The domestic market is well serviced with capacity from low cost carriers Mango and Kulula with demand continuing its positive trend.” Says Airport Manager Gavin Sayce.

"The next step in growth is to attract regional airlines.”

Lanseria is presently constructing a new 3 km runway to accommodate growth in future aircraft movement.

“Lanseria International Airport is well established as Gauteng’s regional airport of choice, and our goal is to deliver the class of service our passengers have become accustomed to.”
Air Botswana Sales Manager - RSA Charmain Lemkus says that the decision to operate out of Lanseria was both operational and commercial. “Lanseria’s proximity to the business and shopping centres located in Sandton and surrounds played a role in our decision.  Lanseria International Airport is also easily accessed from the West Rand, Pretoria and on no toll roads,” says Lemkus. “
Sayce supports the notion that Lanseria will become the centre of a developmental node in the north-west region of Johannesburg. “Within the next decade we anticipate that development in the area will increase,” he says. “Increased traffic, both domestically and regionally, as well as the geographic position of the Lanseria area and growing economic activity in its surrounds has positioned the airport perfectly as a catalyst for growth. Lanseria is geared for progress.”
