Airlink launches jet service to Mthatha

2012-09-05 08:54
From October 1, Airlink will use one of its Embraer ERJ135, 37-seat regional jets on its daily service between Johannesburg and Mthatha, Tourism Update reports.

In a statement, the airline said the introduction of the regional jet was in line with growing demand for travel to Mthatha and was in synergy with the comprehensive upgrade to Mthatha Airport, which included a new terminal building and upgraded runway.

Airlink's enhanced jet service will provide additional capacity as well as shorten the flying time between Johannesburg and Mthatha to just over an hour.

Airlink services Mthatha twice daily Monday to Friday, and with a Saturday morning and a Sunday afternoon flight. From October, morning flights will depart Johannesburg at 06h15, arriving in Mthatha at 07h20. The return service departs Mthatha at 07h45, arriving in Johannesburg at 09h00.

Afternoon flights (including Sundays) depart Johannesburg at 16h05, arriving in Mthatha at 17h10. The return service departs Mthatha at 17h30, arriving in Johannesburg at 18h45. The Saturday flight departs Johannesburg at 08h20, arriving in Mthatha at 09h25 and departing again at 09h45 to arrive in Johannesburg at 11h00.
