BA celebrates inaugural Maputo flight

Johannesburg - British Airways (operated by Comair within southern Africa), took its maiden flight from Johannesburg to the Mozambican capital of Maputo on Monday.

Taking off from OR Tambo International Airport at 09:00, it landed at Maputo International at 10:05. 

The flight schedule comprises of daily return flights with a double daily service on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which is conveniently timed to enable ease of connectivity for international travellers transferring through OR Tambo International Airport to Maputo.

Customers travelling to and from Maputo will fly in comfort on British Airways' fleet of Boeing 737-300 and 400s, and will have a choice of two cabins, Club (business class) or Traveller (economy class).

Shaun Pozyn, Marketing Manager for British Airways says, "We are excited to commence with this new route to Maputo as it allows us to grow our footprint in Africa."

Club (business class) customers can check-in for their flight at the dedicated Club check-in counters and relax in the departure lounges while waiting for their flight. Onboard, customers receive the highest levels of service synonymous with British Airways, which includes quality food, a selection of premium wines, extra legroom and additional reading material, all in the comfort of a separate cabin.

Customers flying in Traveller (economy class) can sit back and relax whilst enjoying complimentary refreshments, appropriate to the time of day. Flying British Airways Traveller provides an upgraded experience at a great value price.
