SAA cancels Hong Kong flights

2013-09-21 22:56
Johannesburg - South African Airways (SAA) has cancelled its flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong International Airport due to severe weather conditions in Hong Kong.

The airline is advising passengers travelling with South African Airways to make alternative arrangements. Authorities in Hong Kong have advised airlines that the Hong Kong International Airport (only) is unsafe to operate to as a result of Tropical Cyclone Usagi.

Flights will resume once conditions are deemed safe for flying into and out of the Hong Kong International Airport, the airline said in a press release.

The following SAA flights have been cancelled:

Saturday, 21 September 2013 - SA 286 (Johannesburg to Hong Kong). This flight was initially scheduled to depart OR Tambo International Airport at 16:55 (JHB time).

Sunday, 22 September 2013 - SA 287 (Hong Kong to Johannesburg). The flight was scheduled to depart the Hong Kong International Airport at 23:50 (Hong Kong time).

The airline said all SAA customers affected by these flight cancellations will be offered a re-booking on the next available flight (same cabin / same booking class) subject to space availability.

- All date and flight change fees will be waived.
 - This allowance will apply to South African Airways tickets only and not on any other airline tickets.
- The offer must be taken up and tickets re-issued through an SAA office by the 25 September 2013.
-  Should any passenger elect to travel on a later date, all such travel must commence on or before 27 September 2013.

Passengers who need assistance should either contact the SAA Call Centres, City Ticket Offices, Airport Ticket Offices or through their Travel Agent.
