Johannesburg - South African Airways is reshuffling its network, concentrating on upping flight frequency into key African destinations.

Frequencies which will be increased are as follows:

·         Johannesburg-Kishasa (DRC): to be increased from 4 to 6 a week. Effective 10 December 2013

·         Johannesburg-Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania): to be increased from 12 to 13 per week. Effective 13 December 2013

·         Johannesburg-Windhoek (Namibia): to be increased from 20 to 21 a week. Effective 12 January 2014

·         Johannesburg-Ndola (Zambia): to be increased from 19 to 20 a week. Effective 13 January 2014

·         Johannesburg-Lusaka (Zambia): to be increased from 19 to 20 a week. Effective 14 January 2014

Apart from this, SAA customers travelling on some regional routes into Africa, such as Mauritius and Nairobi, can experience the airline’s brand new Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline has taken delivery of two new A320s, which form part of a 20 new-aircraft order.

These aircraft are configured with 24 Business Class and 114 Economy Class seats. The business class seats have an innovative feature: the back shell has space to stow a tablet device, with a USB point to keep it charged during the flight.

SAA will also no longer be operating their own aircraft on the Johannesburg-Kigali route, after signing a codeshare with RwandAir. SAA said in a statement that RwandAir will be the operating carrier, while South African Airways will market the route.
