Johannesburg - South African Airways will be deploying an additional flight between Johannesburg and East London for the funeral of the late Epainette Mbeki, mother of former state president Thabo Mbeki.

The airline said in a statement that the flight will be added to the existing schedule on Saturday, 14 June to assist passengers en route to the Eastern Cape for the funeral. 

This will be a commercially operated flight in accordance with the normal conditions of carriage by SAA.    

The additional flight, SA3473, will depart from Johannesburg at 05:30, to land at 07:00 in East London and will return at 18:00 from East London, to arrive at 19:30 in Johannesburg.

The additional flight will be operated by an A319 with 25 seats in Business Class and 95 seats in Economy Class.  

The entire SAA Group has also extended their heartfelt condolences to former president Mbeki and his family, following MaMbeki's passing at the age of 98.
