Wellington – Air New Zealand has announced that it will be dropping an in-flight safety video featuring bikini-clad supermodels, but that the decision has nothing to do with a complaint of ‘sexism.’

CBCnews reports that he video, shot in the Cook Islands and produced in co-operation with Sports Illustrated for the 50th anniversary of the magazine's swimsuit edition, started appearing on the airline's flights in February.

It features four super models - Jessica Gomes, Chrissy Teigen, Hannah Davis and Ariel Meredith – all clad in bikinis and wearing flower necklaces and was named ‘Safety in Paradise.’

Shortly after it started airing, a petition was posted on, labeling it as sexist and asking the airline to remove it.

Well, a couple of months down the line, the airline is dropping it, but they claim it’s merely standard procedure and not at all related to the petition.

A spokesperson for the airline told abcnews that they typically change their safety briefing videos every few months, and that this case is no different.
