kulula introduces pre-paid seating option

2013-11-13 12:34

Johannesburg - kulula.com has launched a new pre-paid seating option for flyers.

The budget airline announced the new feature on Wednesday, stating that customers now have control over which seat they get assigned on a flight for a small fee of R35.

"With so many different travel preferences, we give you the option to choose exactly where you want to sit on the plane, for only R35 per person per flight. When making a flight booking, you will be able to select your pre-paid seat before making payment for your booking. So whether it's snuggled up next to your partner, or on the opposite side of the plane from your mother-in-law, the choice is yours with our pre-paid seating benefit," explained Shaun Pozyn, marketing manager for kulula.com.

He added that the seating benefit is by no means compulsory and that customers can decline adding a pre-paid preferred seat.

"You can change your mind and add a pre-paid seat to your booking at a later stage," said Pozyn. Simply go to the ‘manage booking' tab on kulula.com, or call the Contact Centre on 0861 KULULA (585852) at least 24 hours before departure.

For safety reasons the exit row seats situated at the emergency doors and infant bookings are excluded from pre-paid seating or online check-in seat selection, these need to be selected at the airport check-in counters.

Flyers will still need to check in either online or on kulula.mobi at least 24 hours before their flight departure, or at the airport 90 minutes before.

We hope this move is not an indication that kulula will be going the ancillary-services route of Ryanair - charging for things that used to be free and making it sound like a perk.
