Worst airport moments ever

2014-01-27 09:43
If you had to compile a list of the most stressful public spaces, airports, along with doctors’ waiting rooms and bank managers’ offices, would probably be right at the very top.

Yup, there’s just something about the super-controlled and bustling environment that makes your sweat glands work over time and your heart beat double time.

We’ve rounded up a few of the most horrible airport moments below. And take note: their terribleness is amplified by early mornings.

Which would you add? Tell us in the comment section, chat to us on Facebook or tweet us at @News24Travel

1.    Thinking you’ve arrived wonderfully well in time… and then seeing the queue is so long, you may actually miss your flight after all. So much for that chilled out coffee and newspaper session before boarding you'd envisioned.

2.    Realising your ID isn’t where you normally keep it when getting to the check-in counter and having to rifle through all your pockets, purses and bags to find it. Or not.

3.    Having the beeper thing go off as you walk through security… and then being patted down. Even though you don't have anything dodgy on you.

4.    Rushing, rushing, rushing to arrive on time, only to find that your flight has been delayed by more than an hour as you pass through security. No turning back to join the loved one who dropped you off for a cup of coffee.

 5.    Staring at the empty conveyor belt after everyone else has left with their bags and yours is nowhere to be found. NOWHERE.

6.    Getting the bill or seeing the price being rung up at any of the airport shops.

7.    Being delayed for so long that your phone’s battery dies. And there’s nowhere to charge it.
