Cape Town - Sixty members of a Welsh children's choir have had to be treated by paramedics after falling ill during their overnight flight from Cape Town to London, the Daily Mail reports.

The children, all said to be under 14-years-old, were returning home after visiting South Africa for a performance with opera singer Bryn Terfel in honour of SA's 20 years of democracy.

Four ambulances met the Emirates EK008 flight as it landed at London’s Heathrow Airport as the children were reportedly vomiting and suffering from diarrhea on board the aircraft.

The report is vague as to when exactly the children starting displaying symptoms as the group first flew from Cape Town to Dubai, before boarding an Airbus A380 Emirates Airlines flight bound for London.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told the Daily Mail a call was received on Monday morning that children were unwell on a flight coming in at Heathrow Airport. A hazardous area response team was also sent to assist.

The emergency teams spent about two hours at the scene and 11 out of the 60 children had to be hospitalised. The report states the children have since been discharged.
