Cape Town - So, you've always been slightly nervous of flying, but somehow manage to keep the jitters to yourself quite successfully?

Well, a new invention by British Airways may be the end of your discretion, outing you in a glittery glow.

Daily Mail reports that British Airways will be putting something called the 'happiness blanket' to the test over the next few weeks.

While it may look like a normal airplane blanket to start off with, it's equipped with technology that can read your brainwaves to measure how content you are.

Apparently, the hi-tech accessory uses neuro-sensors to assess happiness levels then fibre optics woven into the fabric change colour from red - when you're stressed - to blue - when you are most relaxed.

A group of volunteers on board BA 189 from Heathrow to London were the very first to put the blankets to the test and report on their experiences.

It seems like most were quite pleased with the invention.

But, we're still slightly freaked out. Apart from displaying your emotions to the world, we also just can't help but wonder how, exactly, do you manage to actually sleep under a glowing blanket?
