Boy goes missing in New York, has the best day ever!

2014-08-04 10:56

New York – Imagine being nine years old and getting lost in one of the world’s biggest, scariest and most bustling cities. New York, to be exact.

Chances are you would probably have a good freak out, think you’re going to die and then suffer from abandonment trauma for the rest of your life.

Well, it seems like this isn’t the case for everyone.

New York Daily News reports that a young boy called Chris Villavicencio got separated from his parents in the middle of the Big Apple on Saturday, but instead of having a meltdown, the child had the ‘greatest day.’

Chris, who is mildly autistic, had been at the Central Park Zoo with his parents and sister when he suddenly found himself alone.

Not knowing what else to do, he set out in search of his family – a solo adventure that apparently took him out of the park and all the way to Times Square. He was finally spotted by two policemen who took him to the Port Authority youth services offices.

Once there, they learned that he had actually been reported missing by his distraught parents.

Before returning him safely to his parents about two hours after first going missing, the cops gave him some yoghurt to eat and showed him around the station, which obviously made a huge impression.

He told his parents later that he had had the greatest day, because it was the first day he had ever been to a police station.
