Coachella, like all great music and arts festivals, is soaked in excessive partying and dancing. Planning a trip takes on epic proportions that simply allows you to get away from your usual buzz and let it all go.

While Coachella has been going since 1999, yah, that’s the previous millennia people – it was the inclusion of controversial act Die Antwoord in 2010, the first South African artists to perform at the event, that super-sized its awareness locally.

According to last year's festival performed to the staggering tune of $67 million (About R702m at R10.49/$). Consider the fact that when it first started, the event ran at a loss of $800 000.

The 2014 festival will take over the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in California for two weekends: April 11-13 and April 18-20 and some of the hot acts include a reunited OutKast, Muse and Arcade Fire.

Here are seven pics to sum up why it should be on your travel bucket list.
