Men deported from Saudi for being ‘too handsome’

Saudi Arabia - Men seen as ‘too handsome’ by religious police were deported from Saudi Arabia amid fears they might be irresistible to women, reports Gawker.

The report reveals that at least three men partaking in the Jenadrivah Heritage & Cultural Festival in Riyadh were shown the exit point out of the Arab country after religious police deemed them ‘too handsome’ to stay.

The men, who were delegates from the United Arab Emirates were focusing on their own business at the festival when members of the mutaween, the country's religious police, 'stormed' the pavilion and forcibly gave them the boot.

An Arabic publication, The Elaph, reports that one of the festival officials said three men were chased out of the festivities based on their looks, as the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices feared that female revellers might fall for them.

The Emirati men were subsequently flown back to their country of origin and according to a statement released by the UAE in relation to the occurrence, the religious police were obviously unnerved by the presence of an unknown female artist from the UAE.

“Her stopover to the UAE stand was by chance as it was not included in the line-up of events which we did deliver to the festival's crew," Saeed Al Kaabi apologised to the festival organisers.
