PICS: Sexy Parisian swimming pool gets a new life

2014-05-21 14:58
Cape Town - The birthplace of the bikini, the world's first topless tanning hot spot, the inspiration behind the name of novel-turned-blockbuster-film, Life of Pi's, main character and, more recently, a perfectly dry and abandoned canvas for street artists.

All things considered, La Piscine Molitor in Paris is definitely no ordinary public pool and has seen more than its fair share of excitement, trouble and turmoil.

In its 1920s hey day, the pool was THE place to be seen, attracting the fabulous and the fashionable from all corners of the world. However, by 1989, it had become so pase that the government decided to close it down, eventually hoping to slate it and replace it with apartments.

The plan never came to fruition, however, and for years the once formidable attraction stood barren, grey and empty. It became a playground for street artists, skateboarders and even once served as an ice skating rink.

However, Huffington Post reports that all that has changed, since the premises has been reopened as a 124-room hotel, spa and restaurant.

The pool has been restored to its former glory... and then some.

Unsurprisingly it costs a pretty penny to get in - 180 Euros for a day pass (that's about R2 568 at R14.27/Euro).

But, just look at these pics! I mean wow! We'd save up just to go... Care to join us?
