After being stuck on the tarmac for five hours, passengers on an Allegiant Air flight decided to kick start the plane by breaking out in a spirited rendition of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly."WATCH

New York - A passenger who shouted "We're all being poisoned!" on a flight from Hong Kong to the US on Monday was met by law enforcement officials after the flight landed safely in Newark, New Jersey.

The passenger became disruptive during a nearly 15-hour flight aboard United Airlines and fellow passengers subdued and handcuffed him using plastic strips provided by the crew, passenger Jacques Roizen told CNN.

The man shouted references to the CIA and Edward Snowden, a former US intelligence official who revealed the existence of PRISM, a top-secret scheme run by the National Security Agency (NSA) to intercept worldwide emails and track telephone calls.

The man said "just like the NSA leaker, he had names and therefore he was in danger," Roizen said.

The flight left Hong Kong at 10:25 am (0215 GMT) and landed shortly after 1:30 pm (1730 GMT) in Newark, where law enforcement officials were waiting.

He was put on a stretcher and loaded into the back of an ambulance.

An FBI spokesperson said there was no indication anyone on board had been poisoned.
