Cape Town - Thailand's tourism authority has announced the curfew in place since the military coup has been eased from 22:00 until 05:00 to midnight until 04:00.

"The situation remains the same in Bangkok and across Thailand, however, the curfew has been eased" a spokesperson for Thailand tourism said.
"We recommend that tourists visiting Bangkok exercise caution and remain alert to the situation by following local news and media.  If tourists are in any doubt about their safety they should stay in their accommodation and abide by the rules of the curfew, which remains in place until further notice.

Tourists were also warned to avoid all protests sites, political gatherings, demonstrations and marches.

In addition to this, the tourism body advised all those expecting to travel to Thailand in the next few weeks to contact their insurance provider to confirm cover for claims arising from the current situation - since certain travel insurance policies exclude cover during a coup d’état, making the insurance invalid.
