Please enjoy these 5 truly bizarre Airbnb listings

2014-07-11 15:37

From a house full of shells to a cube house in Rotterdam, here are some pretty weird places you can find to stay in on Airbnb. WATCH

Cape Town - If you enjoy keeping your accommodation spend to a minimum while travelling, but really don't fancy the idea of hostels anymore, we're sure you've tried Airbnb.

If not, you totally should.

Why? Well, taking the form of a type of marketplace for travelers to list and book unique worldwide private properties - from a spare room in your home to city apartments and even country villas - the site covers 34 000 cities in 192 countries.

Which means you can find pretty amazing places to stay for much cheaper rates than hotel rooms in the same location.

And you can make big bucks from renting out your own space to other travellers (just hope they don't throw a XXX-rated shindig in it while you're away).

PLUS, you could get the chance of a lifetime to stay in some pretty out there spaces - if you so wish, of course.

Bloomberg recently put together a video of five of the most bizarre rentals advertised on Airbnb.

Check out the video and see the individual listings below.

They are:

5. Nakagin Capsule Tower, Tokyo, Japan - From R978 per night

Cubehouse, Centre of Rotterdam - From R1 802 per night

The Seashell House, Isla Mujeres, Mexico - From R2 749 per night

The Shitake Treehouse, Cave Junction, Oregon - From R2 755 per night

Headfort House, 70 bed school - From R18 016 per night
